Philadelphia Babies

XPost: Lehigh Valley vs St. Luke's?

Hi!  I'm new to the board and I live on the border of NJ/PA, but there's no general Pennsylvania board, sorry!  My ob/gyn (who no longer delivers babies) recommended either Lehigh Valley or St. Luke's.  I've been reading about both hospitals online.  Does anyone have any recommendations/input on either hospital?  I know they're not in Philly, but figured I'd ask since there are probably others that live in the area or on the border.  TIA!

  • Hi! I delivered my DD at Lehigh Valley. I had an amazing experience and will be delivering there again.

  • Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it!  I'm also new to the area, so thankfully I've never had a reason to visit either hospital, but am glad there's a level III NICU, just in case!  Is there a doctor you'd also recommend?  I've been reviewing all of the practicing doctors - it's been overwhelming!  Thanks!
  • I definitely would recommend Lehigh valley over St Luke's.

Personally I am going to Doylestown Hospital because i love them. My entire family, DH side, and mine were either born their and gave birth there.

  • I am a patient of College Heights OBGYN. it's a very big practice but I have been very satisfied. Obviously they deliver at LVH.

I love my pediatrician, Dr Rice. He is a very small practice and is downright outstanding. You can do a meet and greet with him. He does see newborns at LVH too.

    Message me anytime!

  • I've been going to College Heights OB/GYN for my yearly wellwoman exams since I moved to the area about 5 years ago.nbsp; I chose them based on the recommendation of several coworkers.nbsp; They have offices in Allentown, Bethlehem, Trexlertown, and Kutztown.nbsp; Since they are part of the Lehigh Valley Health Network, you would deliver at Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest.nbsp; I've tossed around the idea of switching practices so I could deliver at St. Luke's which is 5 minutes away instead of 20.nbsp; St. Luke's is a great hospital system and I am sure that I would have a great experience delivering there, but based on the people I've talked to and the research I've done I'm planning on sticking with Lehigh Valley instead.

I did just read that St. Luke's was voted as Best Place to Have a Baby in the Morning Call's Reader's Choice Awards. I'm not sure how much stock I put into the validity of the awards, though.
  • Thank you so much for all the feedback, I really appreciate it!  : )
  • I just delivered at Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest. We had an amazing experience, the nurses are wonderful and very attentive. Best of luck!
