I look at Jackson as a good, classic name that you can't really go wrong with. I actually think Jack Hart sounds strong, not harsh. We have a similar sounding last name (one syllable, ending in T) and I have found it doesn't work with a lot of single syllable names for the same reason you mentioned. In this case, I don't think it sounds overly harsh.

I used to love the name Jackson, until i started working in a place full of kids. I meet at least 1 to 4 Jackson's a day.. Not over exaggerating. IMHO it is way over used and all too common, therefore it has been removed from my list of baby names. I would hate to send my kid to school to be known as "Jackson C." because there are also a handful of others with the same name.
What about John? DS is named John (after my grandpa) and we mostly call him Jack for now. (My grandpa went by Jack until he went to college then switched to John)
I don't dislike Jackson nn Jack, but it is SOOOO popular. Are you okay with that? To answer your question, I don't love the flow (or lack thereof) of Jack Hart. My suggestion is to go back to the drawing board. Sorry
As a mom of a Jackson who also goes by Jack, go for it! We knew Jackson was getting very popular when we named him, but it was the ONLY name that worked for us and the only one we loved. If you love the name, use it.
