crib tent user worried about big bed transition

if you use a crib tent how did the transition to the bed go? I think he will just get up and out of it the second i walk out of the room.  I foresee him standing in his glider rocker and playing with the lamp and slamming his fingers in his dresser.  Tips?

  • All crib tents are have been recalled, I wouldn't continue using if you are currently.

  • I don't think having had a crib tent will make they transition any different.  Your kid will have more freedom and needs to figure it out.  Babyproof the crap out of the room and close the door,  if he fall asleep on the floor for a couple of nights, it's not going to kill him.  We had to turn the dresser around and eventually take it out of the room, build this crazy shelf thing so we could use the monitor, and put his mattress on the floor (without the toddler bed).  But my kid is crazy climber.  GL!
  • The transition went as expected - a complete nightmare. BUT I have twins sharing a room so they were having crazy, late night parties. Night time is now good, but naps are still a struggle. Things I did:

    - took everything out of their room. No toys. Nothing. It's simply their beds and a recliner.

    - put the dresser in their closet. My foster son once pulled it down on him even though it was screwed into the wall and supposedly secure. I know my girls would climb it.

    -  My girls are avid readers. For naps, they get 3 books each to read in bed. The rules are (1) stay in bed and (2) be quiet. Every time they break a rule, I take a book. It worked really well and resolved the nap time struggle, but then we went on vacation and it all fell apart.

    - At bedtime, they like to have the door open. I tell them if they're loud of get out of bed, I'll close they're door. They don't like not having any light coming in their room, so it hasn't been a problem.

    - I also run a fan on high in their room to drown out their baby brother crying.

    HTH!
