City select double stroller

Anyone have it? Just left the store and it seems like a pita to fold and I was annoyed with all the ala carte pricing...how can the sell a double stroller and make 1 seat optional??? In any case I'm small so not sure if I can manage the weight of it. Would love to know if you have this and opinions. I'm leaning towards a Dsng.

Re: City select double stroller

  • Have it and love it.  It's not really a double - can be of course but I know people who use it as a single.   It folds up nicely but on occasion can be tough, depending mainly on whether or not I can get square in front of it to pull up the fold mechanism.  We have the two seats, two car seat adapters and the toddler riding board.

  • I have it, but have not used it yet with babies in it.  The second seat is optional because it can be used as a single stroller as well.  It is heavy, but not as heavy as the icandy and some of the other doubles that I looked at.  I also considered the DSNG but it was so much longer and clunkier to push around.  I wanted the City Mini Double Jogger but that only holds one car seat.  We bought the stroller, second seat and two carseat adapters.  Also something to think about is that the DSNG will only work while they are in their carseats, so you will have to buy another stroller down the road.

I'm fairly certain there is no way to fit 3 kiddos on that stroller (unless you get a glider board-but then that doesn't really count). I have it and LOVE it! While, there is a little learning curve when you first get it, now I can easily get it folded up and in my SUV in seconds.

  • I love mine. it is so much smoother than a DSNG with the car seat adapters. my kids are 14 mo and we just now are out of our infant seats (preemies). Its also great for taking just one baby out ( which I do often). we are just now using our regular seats a little more. It's sturdy, solid and not made of a ton of plastic. I wouldn't trade it for anything when it comes to doctor appts and shopping. We also have a double BOB for walks etc but we love it too for totally different reasons....now that is a heavy stroller.

  • We have a hand me down McClaren techno double so I could save and just get DSNG. Trying to be convinced that this is worth the:

  • I think I'm in the minority, but I can't stand the city select. I had to use it a lot as a nanny with 2 toddlers. The family had both the select and mini, but the mom always had the select out for me to use. I'm tiny but strong, and it was way too heavy for me. I got a good workout using it, but I greatly prefer the mini over select. Just not a fan of tandem strollers.

  • You can fit two seated and one on the board.  It's very convenient.

ETA: one of the things I really like about this stroller is it steers easily one-handed.  In fact, I can steer it using the handle of the front car seat if I need to maneuver in a weird store or narrow aisle or whatever.  To me the hardest part of any stroller is steering, I'm just not a good stroller driver so we hardly used one for older DD.  Now it's really a necessity in most situations and I appreciate the ease of steering.  I know it will get harder as the babies get heavier but for now when we rely on a stroller the most it's great.

  • I love it, but I did use a DSNG when the twins were small. The frame was so light and easy to use - I'm not sure I would have been able to lift the City Select as soon after my c-section.

  • I am on the fence. I test drove a lot of strollers in BBB a few months ago. Ultimately, I decided to by a used DSNG for while they are infants so I can get a good idea of how we will be using the stroller long-term.

Once they start to outgrow their infant seats, or want to look around a bit more, I am debating between the City Select and the City Mini Double. Truthfully, I just don't know. I like the idea of a side by side stroller better than a tandem, but until I get a good idea of how and where we will be using it, I have no clue.

I do love to read other people's stroller reviews though. I file it all away for my future decision-making.

  • I have the city select and the britax b agile (similar to the mini). I love them both for different reasons. I basically use the select indoors and the b agile outdoors. I like the tandem for most things, easy to steer (including when I pull a cart and push the stroller in the grocery), it fits between parked cars most of the time, fits in store aisles and I can push or pull it one handed when I open doors (since people usually gawk at you instead of helping with doors). I tried a lot of doubles and was willing to spend money on one-I look at it is cost per use and I use it enough to make it cheap per use.  They were all a PITA, this to me was the least so.

The B agile is awesome for a side by side for almost everything else. Similar to the mini but a bit cheaper with some features I liked better.  But if I could only choose one stroller for everything it would be the BJ city select.

  • Thanks ladies! I'm feeling like I did with DS... Will probably get DSNG to start and decide later on if I should just stick with my maclaren. They are just so light and easy...
