JJ cole bundle me

Did anyone receive/purchase one of these and cut out the back for safer placement in the car seat? I like how cozy they are in comparison to the ones that just elastic around the car seat and am thinking as long as I cut out the back and re-sew, so baby is snug in his harness were ok? Thoughts?

Re: JJ cole bundle me

  • One of the regs was going to do something similar, I forgot to ask how the sewing project went. She had a pattern to do this that left the back of the car seat exposed, so that there was nothing between baby and the back of the seat. Really, though for the amount you'd spend on the Bundle Me, I can give you recs on some plusher or warmer than average covers with better that decent elastic, all less money than the Bundle Me and no sewing.

  • That would be awesome but I already received two at my shower and thought it couldn't hurt to alter them since I didn't get gift receipts. I figure I can alter both and that way if there is a blowout or spit up I am good to go.
  • I paged her, hopefully she sees. It's opaque1997 that did the alteration.
  • Thanks so much!
  • Those infant seats are really warm to begin with.  We had a shower cap style one and both my boys would frequently get overheated.  It was unzipped whenever we were in the car or in the store, etc.  I would zip it up when we went outside.  And frankly, we weren't outside all that much when it was really cold.  Both boys were September babies and I live in the Chicago area where it  gets stupid cold.
  • The JJ Cole shower cap style is also warm and fuzzy, and cheaper!.  I am sure you can return them to BRU or Buy Buy Baby with no issues as they both sell them.

Exactly what I was thinking.  Cut out the back and sew around the edges to prevent any of the "fluff" from falling out! That way baby is directly sitting in the seat.

I don't think BRU is going to give me money back for two of them without any kind of receipt? I had enough of a hassle when I asked for my completion coupon after my registry.  The girl at the counter told me they only do that in the states yet on their Canadian website it lists you should get one.  They are so annoying.

Edit: I don't think we have buy buy baby in Canada? I have never seen one?

You could always try to exchange them, but I would just cut it if they don't take it.  If you have two, you could leave one intact and  just use it in the stroller- there aren't any safety concerns with the stroller.

  • I wouldn't bother trying to return them to BRU, I tried that with it on my registry but without a GR and I was given nothing. I never thought about cutting them but that is a great idea!

i cut the backs out of both so DS will sit directly in his car seat (we have a uppababy and his car seat snaps into it so until he's a bit bigger we won't be using the stroller attachment which will be summer) it was super easy. I cut right around where his whole head support sits and i did have to sew around the cuts because the stuffing would fall out otherwise but I feel much better about using this product and keeping my November baby warm during the Canadian winter!  I thought the back might be flimsy not being tucked behind DS seat but the elastic holds it in place pretty good.
