Yesterday was a whirlwind of a day...
My sis and I were getting all the decorations ready for my cousins wedding this weekend. We had a million things to do 4 kids and no time to spare. While we were painting monograms on pumpkins a bird flies into her front window.
We went out and looked at the bird, who was still alive but stunned. After the bird not moving for two hours I googled what to do.
Google told me to take it to an animal hospital. I then called the local animal hospital and they told me to call the wildlife refuge center. I call them and they said to bring the bird in. They closed at 6:00pm and it was 5:15. They are located in a northern suburb and we were in a southern suburb. My sister says "I'm not driving up there" and I said "I'm not driving up there"...
5 minute later we are driving like maniacs through rush hour traffic with a bird in a shoe box. We made it with two minutes to spare and saved Lil' Pumpkin the Cedar Waxwing's life! They gave him some anti-inflammatory and pain meds and think he will make a full recovery.
The Wildlife center said they had a ton of birds being dropped off yesterday for flying into houses.
Re: Yes, I'm a hero!
Wait...who hates birds?! I need more info...
(way to go, penny!)
Did you take the bird back home or leave it there?
