NT scan take 2 was yesterday. LO is measuring 12wks 2 days, and is measuring 5.7cm. Personally I think asking a pregnant women to hold her bladder is the most ridiculous notion ever, for me at least, it's just not possible.
NT measurement was 1.3 and u/s tech said everything else looked normal. They should have full results to my Dr. by today since they already had my blood back, we have a regular appt on Monday so not sure if we have to wait until then. DH and I talked last night and we both feel good that things will be fine, but since it's just a screening test I wonder what the point is of having it done in the first place... I mean it can come back with fantastic odds but at the end of the day it doesn't 100% prove anything.
A friend today said to me, welcome to parenthood, you will be worrying about something for the rest of your life, so welcome but so true!!!
Re: NT scan yesterday..
I agree! We had a machine go down, which backed up the NT line and greatly expanded our wait time. Of course, no one bothered to tell us this and by the time we asked someone what was going on, I had goldfish swimming in my eyes! I was so p!ssed! (Get it? P!issed?
) So, there's a tip for folks who haven't had one yet- if you go w/a full bladder and feel like you're going to pop- you can "let a little off"- b/c trust me, it will refill! (Just don't empty the whole thing). Wish they'd told me that before my 2 hour appt turned into a 4 hour appt! Gah!
Sounds like you had great results! 1.3 is very good and encouraging! I opted not to do CVS/Amnio b/c our numbers were so good on the bloodwork- hope you have the same! FX!
Agreed! I had a very bumpy cab ride on the way to the appt and almost lost it, there was no way I could even let someone touch my stomach at that point so I went 1/2 way and the u/s tech said i still had a full bladder and it was way more bearable!

We're not going to bother with the Materni21 test unless our NT results come back really really really concerning. We'd have to get a referral to go out of state to get it and the other option is the Harmony test which has only been in use for three months, at least at where I was referred to.
After talking to the geneticist, she mentioned they knew they had gotten true +'s with the test because the mother's had gone on to get Amnio/CVS, if I still have to take that extra step to confirm the results I don't see the point since that's off the table for us. We'll just wait for the 20wk scan.

This is so, so true!!
Glad the NT scan went well and I'm sure the combined results will be great and you can put another milestone behind you!
Great news! 1.3 is a fab measurement. Mine was somewhat larger but all came back just fine for me, as I'm sure it will for you too! FX!
Oh, and no one told me I needed a full bladder for my NT scan, so I didn't have one and we still got it to work.
Over-40 parents...what we lack in vigor, we make up for with cunning.
Congratulations on fantastic results! That is awesome news!!!
Although a screen, I think for someone who has markedly abnormal results, it can help you (at least it helped me) decide how much more I wanted to do or not to.
