this morning at Starbucks....

Barista: "When are you due?"

Me: "January!" 

Barista: "oh wow."

Me: "Yep."

Barista: "Are you having twins?!"

Me: "..nope."

Barista: "geez! well that's one healthy baby!"

 

She may as well have just said "Well you look huge for having 3 more months to go." 

 

ugh....i always pride myself on having patience, understanding and laughing it off in life, but I'm losing my patience for dumb people!! think before speaking!!

    I had a member at my gym say the same thing to me yesterday.  I didn't know what to say, and I know I had a WTF look on my face.  My manager, who has 4 kids, stepped up and said, "well, no one wants to hear that."  I think the member then realized how stupid she (yes, she with kids of her own) sounded. 

    The thing is, I measure on track, but I'm a shorty, with a short torso, and it's all out in front.  My sister who's got 5 inches on me, measured on track with her's, and she never stuck out very far, but when you have five more inches to work with, the bump can go other places. 

    People are so dumb!  Even without having ever been pregnant, I've never even thought of saying this to someone.

    Me: unexplained infertility - annovulatory DH: testicular cancer survivor!! TTC since June 2009 BFP May 11, 2012 EDD January 24, 2013 June 1, 2012 - first u/s, heartbeat 124 BPM!! June 22, 2012 - heard the heartbeat 9w1d 181 BPM!! 24 hours of labor, 4 1/2 hours of pushing, and IT'S A BOY! Welcome to the world my miracle, we prayed and prayed for you, and we can't believe you're here!

    I would have been grumpy about that for sure, especially if it was said pre-morning coffee. However, I would never chance saying something snarky to my local barista, in fear they would take it out on my beloved 1/2 caffeinated soy caramel latte.

    VERY good point!! happy I kept my thoughts to myself!

    For every "Wow you are huge!" comment I get another, "You are so tiny for 26 weeks!" I have come to the conclusion that NOBODY, not even people who have been pregnant themselves, has very good skills when it comes to size of bumps...
