I'm having some major issues with my breasts and having too much milk. It's so sad because even though my LO is hungry she cries at my breasts. (It started last night). I tried doing what the LC said and after she sucked once, drained a little on a towel, and tried again and that didn't work. I also tried different positions and even a nipple shield. The shield worked last night, but today my breasts are still really engorged and leaky and it probably is coming out too fast for my LO.
This is how I think my supply changed: Yesterday she had a bottle for the first time in 2 weeks (My LO is 8 weeks old. I EPed for first 6 weeks then transitioned to EBF for 2 weeks). Now I am working part-time as of yesterday and she is breastfeeding and bottle feeding. I pumped at work to replace the feeding.
I think that pumping while I was at work really messed up my supply. My breasts were really engorged after transitioning to BFing a couple weeks ago, but they "adjusted" to her supply and everything has been great for over a week. Then I pumped yesterday and all of a sudden my breasts are back to being crazy.
I am so sick of my breasts being engorged and my LO crying because she is hungry but doesn't want to be on the boob. We had so many wonderful breastfeeding sessions in the last week, he latch and her sucking has been PERFECT, like robotic almost. I really love breastfeeding but I am literally going out of my mind knowing that breastfeeding is now causing her to scream uncontrollably.
Any advice for oversupply, crying baby, or pumping at work? I pumped only 10 minutes and got 6 oz (4 oz from one, 2 oz from other). She only eats half that amount, so I'm not sure if I should have stopped pumping when I got 3 oz....
Re: pumping & bf issues
Would you use a PISA or harmony if you were me? It seems like a lot of work to set up my electric since I also use it at work, but I want to fix my problem...
