Blended Families

A little odd

I was on Facebook yesterday, and looked up BM's profile. This is the second time I've ever looked her up. The first time I looked was when DH and I got engaged. She had her profile shut down, so I couldn't see anything. This time, she had it open. She recently (March) posted a picture that has my DH in it. Granted, it is a family picture (with cousins and such), but it was taken almost 7 years ago... Don't you think there would be a more recent family picture? For info sake, they broke up 6 years ago, we've been together for 3, married for 2.

I'm not bothered by it per se, I just think it's so frickin odd that she'd post that picture this year. I don't have any pictures with BD on my fb page (though, we weren't together long, and he was a douchecanoe). Anyone else think this is a bit strange?

  • You're reading WAY too much into things. Weird? Maybe. A big deal? Not at all. It was a family picture. I'm sure she wishes BD wasn't in that picture, but she's not going to not use it just because it is. Maybe the photo has a family member who passed away, or a favorite family member, or maybe BM just really likes the picture minus the fact that your DH is in it. Who knows? And, honestly, who cares?

  • I agree with Twister. Its not thaaat odd. If it were a picture of just the two of them on their honeymoon a billion years ago, yeah that's weird. An old-ish family pic? Not a big deal.

Whoa. I didn't say it was a big deal, nor did I read anything into it. I just thought it was strange that she'd add it this year and not 7 years ago.

Whoa, you posted on a public board and someone politely said you are reading way too much into it. She did not attack you so no need for theatrics. I have had people from here that I am even FB friends with tell me I am way overthinking things, their opinion and I did not take offense.

  • I wouldn't post a picture like that but my ex has nothing to do with my kids. He abandoned them completely. If he was a good father and still in their lives it might not be odd to post a picture that had him in it, assuming he wasn't the only one in it. If it's a great picture except for the fact her ex is in it I can see why she wouldn't want to throw it away.

I guess, it's different but enough to be an issue.

EDIT I post pictures on facebook that are recent and sometimes I'll find an old one that I decide to put on. IT doesn't mean anything that she put it there now but had it years ago. SHe might have been looking for family photos, found it and used it without a thought. You never know.

  • Odd, maybe, but not worth a second thought.

Do yourself a favor and block her on fb so you're not tempted to pull her up again.

Actually you ARE finding it a bigger deal than it already is.  There are a number of reasons why she added THIS particular picture at THIS particular time and ALL of them have absolutlely NOTHING TO DO WITH your husband.

The fact that you needed to "eavesdrop" on your husband's ex is the more important issue here.  Unless you have concerns for the child it is rude and the bigger of the two poor actions.

  • I do think it strange, however, if it bothers you in any way, I would just avoid checking her Facebook in the future.

  • WHY are you checking her FB to begin with? I  think that is odd.
  • I think its wierd too. Up until BM got married last year she had pictures of DH sleeping in her car on the way home from the airport. Granted it was taken before we met but still...if she "hates" him so much why would she keep that pic on there?
