I'm pregnant with my second and since I don't really need all that much stuff, I was thinking about splurging on a baby food maker. I've made DD's food the old fashioned way and find it to be very time consuming and a pain to wash all the different pots and appliances you need to use to cook or steam, and puree.
Anyways, I would like to purchase a baby food maker that is a one stop shop. I've narrowed it down to the BEABA Babycook and the KidsLine Baby Chef. It seems like the Baby Chef is capable of doing more thant the Babycook, and I especially like that you can make more than one batch at once. However, I have read a lot of reviews with people complaining that the parts break easily.
So I was hoping I could get some feedback on these products from other moms here! Please let me know your experiences with either of these products. Thank you!
Re: Baby food makers
It definitely takes me more than 30 minutes to do everything from start to finish. More like an hour. Sometimes more depending on how many things I'm making. Sometimes I'll throw a bunch of different things in together other times I make things seperately.
I did read some complaints of mold but I was thinking those are people who just dump out the water when they are done and put it back on the appliance instead of rinsing it and leaving out to dry, and cleaning it with vinegar ever once in while. This is why I would love to hear from people who actually have experience using them.
I point it out because I remember reading similar complaints about my humidifier and I never had mold or stain problems because I actually cleaned and dried the water reservoir lol.
Its only one appliance to wash as opposed to a pot, spoon, my steamer attachment, roasting pan if that's what I'm doing, the blender, the blade, the food processor and all of its parts...because the blender doesn't always give me the consistency I want. I've been making my daughter's food for almost a year now so you aren't going to convince me on how quick and easy it is. Sorry.
The truth is I'm willing to spend the money on something that will make my life a little easier.
Beaba is sold at Williams Sonoma and their customer service is very goo, why don't buy it and try it for yourself. I asked the same question last week on the Working Moms board. What I got from the responses was, it's not a must have, but it's nice to have.
