5am?! (Also on 3-6 board)

Why oh why is my DD suddenly getting up at 5 or 5:30 in the morning? And how do I make it stop?!

She'll be 5 months on November 1st and up until now has been consistently going down at 7 and waking up between 7 and. 7:30 with only a couple wake ups during the night...

what can I do to go back to the way it was?

Re: 5am?! (Also on 3-6 board)

  • It's probably just a phase, honestly.  We have been going through periods of the same thing around here since they were about 4 months old.  She'll get up at 5ish for a few days and he'll sleep until 8 or 9.  Then as soon as she starts sleeping later he starts waking up early for a few days.  I wish they'd at least sync it up!

Anyway, has it been happening for a while now, or just a few days?  I've noticed that with mine it seems to be cyclic.

  • DD is doing the same. She used to sleep 9-9 but now wakes up anywhere between 3-5. She's been eating more frequently during the day so I think it's a growth spurt and she just needs more food than normal to get through the night. It happened before a couple weeks ago and it went away so maybe it will happen again.

Maybe it's the same with your LO.

A has also been getting up at 5:30 the last few days. We get up at 6 for work though so DH and I just switched off on who got to lay in bed a little longer.

Honestly I don't think there is anything you can do to make it go back. It is probably just a phase. A was getting up from 2-4 every morning and wanting to play. I'm just glad she is not doing that anymore. I just tell myself this too shall pass.

  • Hopefully it's just a phase... Mine was getting up ALL last week @ 4am!!! Grrr! Now this week something clicked and he's been sleeping to 6 or 6:30... Thankfully.  I didn't change our routine or anything.
