The room that will be our LO's nursery currently is (and will stay) light gray with white trim. I'm debating what color/finish the furniture should be.
I've ruled out the light wood finishes, as that doesn't seem to match. I'm now debating between dark wood and white. I'm worried that dark wood will make this small room feel even smaller. But then I worry that white furniture will show nicks and scratches more. We had white furniture in our living room and my DH has done a number on it to the point I'm leery of ever getting white stuff again!
For the STM+ moms, what has your experience been with white furniture (crib, dresser/changing table)? Was this an issue?
Re: white furniture
I think white furniture would look fantastic with your colour scheme but I am bias. We have white nursery furniture and it doesn't show scatches. In fact, I asked that very question in the store and they said dark wood is more likely to show scratches as the scratches show up white.
We were team green and the other thing I considered with white furniture was whether it was gender neutral. I think for babies and toddlers it is but for an older boy maybe not. We ended up splurging on a white hutch and since we had a girl she will have it in her room for a long time. Had we had a boy, I probably would have done his "big boy" room with brown furniture and saved the white furniture for baby number 2.
I'd say go white! From what I'm envisioning, white would look best. We have a light blue room with white trim and went with all white furniture, although the crib does have white AND dark brown. All of our furniture is Pottery Barn and so far so good - no scratches. We actually got the crib used, but it was in great condition. Keep in mind that our LO has only been in his room for 4 months, but everything still looks great.

This. We also have an iKEA crib and no problem with scratches. I purposely tried to scratch the floor model and no scratches on the ikea stuff.
