I'm 8 weeks today and have been having awful nausea and vomiting since 5 weeks. I've tried saltines (gag,) preggie pops (no different than jolly ranchers, IMO,) ginger.... I've been miserable. So I finally bit the bullet today, called my Dr, and she called in a scrip for Zofran right then. I know they wouldn't prescribe it if it was like, totally toxic, but I am still nervous about taking it (I took the first one about 15 minutes ago.)
Anyone else have experience with this med? Advice? TIA!
Re: Started Zofran today... kinda nervous about it
it's safe safe safe!
It's what they give babies when they are puking too much for their own good. (my DS had to take it for a while...)
I took it in the last pregnancy with DD. My only advice - start taking colace! Zofran plugs you up like weeks of only eating cheese.
Prunes, Metamucil, and nuts/seeds will quickly become your new best friends.
I've been on it for 6 weeks now. I'm not sure where I would be without it.
ETA: Some say Zofran causes constipation. I have no idea if it does or not because I was extremely constipated prior to taking the zofran.
DX: PCOS/Recurrent losses/MTHFR mutation (compound hetero)
5 hysteroscopies/2 surgical
3 Inject IUIs = 2 m/c's and 1 BFN
IVF #1= BFP. m/c at 7w6d. Needed 2 D&C's and scar tissue removal. Mild OHSS
IVF #2 = BFP. Severe OHSS. 4 Drainings. TWINS!
I was in your same situation with DD, nothing worked. So lying on the floor one day without a will to get up I called the dr and begged for Zofran... Lets just say the side effect was worse than the m/s. Two things for me but one of which I was prone to, headaches, watch out for those! Second was awful constipation! Make sure to drink TONS of water, and prune juice did the trick too.
Otherwise good luck and I hope it works for you! M/S is awful!!
I completely agree! I was also nervous about taking it until I spoke with a few mommy friends who had been prescribed it as well and have beautiful kids.
The relief was amazing until I realized the size effects of constipation. Drink your juice and find a fiber pill that works for you. I've had a lot of relief from Dulcolax and I found it doesn't irritate my sensitive stomach.
Best Wishes :-)
