I'm new to CD, but it's been fun for me to try to get up to speed. I'm excited to try the highly-recommended used route, but this just seems to add complexity. In my area on craigslist, it seems like I can pay about $5 each for medium use AIOs and similar (usually something like "in good condition after use by 2 children, minimal or no stains"). Would velcro keep working after 2 of their kids for another 1-2 of mine? What about snaps? I wouldn't buy anything that said, "just needs __ replaced" but these don't. I am not handy and don't want to do a bunch of repairs. Seem like a good deal? TIA!
Re: Buying used without a clue--how old is too old?
A few months old, or even used for one child as part of a large stash would be okay, but after two kids I would expect velcro and elastics would need to be replaced.
If in doubt always inspect the diapers (if you can) before you purchase.

I just potty trained my oldest and after 2 years of a fairly large rotation, the BGs 3.0s need new elastic and velcro. I was VERY gently with my diapers, too. I always line dry and took good care of them.
I'd imagine it would be hard to get more than that out of them. I'm trying to see if I want to tackle the elastics or just splurge and buy new ones for my newborn.
