Food Allergy

Grown out of food allergies?

I just got word after a rast test that my 2 year old has grown out of his egg AND peanut allergies! Of course, I'm relieved and excited, but still a little nervous. I thought that it was unlikely to grow out of peanut allergies. The doc said we can start adding it in, but to have Benadryl on hand. Any thoughts? Thanks!

  • That's awesome! My DD was just tested 2 weeks ago and everything came back negative also. I was very nervous to start trying foods with her that we avoided for so long, and I still keep waiting for her to have a reaction. We've done dairy and wheat so far without an issue, though she did have a slight reaction to eggs. I agree with your doc, keep benedryl on hand and good luck!

  • That would be amazing! I would be scared too, so you could always introduce the foods at or before a doctor's appointment just in case.

  • Congrats! What a relief! Did you do anything to build up immune to nuts?
  • When we saw our allergist she said 40% chance of outgrowing peanut allergies.  So it's not uncommon per se.

  • That is awesome!! My daughter has an egg allergy. She can eat it ifits is baked into cake, cookie or ect. but not whole egg or raw

so no french toast, salad dressing, scrable eggs..

her symptoms will include red blotchy around lips and worst case was it continued down the front of her neck with blotchy ness...

do you think she will outgrow it and what did u do to help the process if any?
