What is LO wearing to bed?

Now that the temps are dropping, I'm wondering what the best way to dress LO for bed is?  MIL watched DS over the weekend and when we got home, he was already in bed, in footed sleeper with a blanket over him.  I waited til MIL left and went in and took the blanket off him.  He stirred like he was maybe a little chilly.   The temp in his room is about 68 degrees.  What is your LO wearing and what temp do you keep their room?

Re: What is LO wearing to bed?

  • Her bedroom is roughly the same temperature (68) and we've been putting her in a onesie with a footed sleeper and a gown.  Last night her room temperature was 72, and we did a onesie with a fleece footed sleeper.  I always worry that she is too cold, so we're experimenting with what works best.  I did get her a sleep sack that I need to wash so that we can start using.

  • I am in FL so we are still running the AC. She is still wearing the same thing she always has, footed PJ's. I may get a sleep sack for when we have those occassional colder nights.

  • I've been doing footed sleepers... but wondering if I need to add a sleep sack?  I have both fleece and cotton sacks. I just worry that he inherited the 'chill baby' gene from me, I'm always cold and cuddled under blankets.

  • We keep the house at 68 and she sleeps in footed pjs with a Halo sleep sack.

  • Our house is between 1820 degrees celcius at night. S wears a onesie, 2 piece pj's, socks and is in a medium weight fleecey sack.

  • I have her in a magic sleepsuit. It's warm and cozy and I have a fan going but no a/c or heat right now.  House is around 71 degrees.

  • She is wearing footed pj's and a microfleece Halo sleepsack.  It can get down to 63-64 in her room by the morning and she is sleeping so much better with the sleepsack.

  • Where we live it's still 80 everyday so we still have the ac on. Right now, it's 71 in our house at night. She wears a long sleeve onesie and a swaddle sleep sack with arms out. Once we start putting the heat, it'll probably be a footie pj and the sack. I have a fleece sack that she can wear with the long sleeve onesie.

I need a few more sacks. If you want sacks cheaper than babies r us, check out Burlington Coat Factory. They have them for 10 bucks...the Halo brand. They don't have all the cute fabric but for the price, it can't be beat.

  • DS sleeps in boy' gowns (like for newborns)- I found some for 9mo- I HATE the snaps/zippers in footed PJs, and the gown I can pull up to change DS 2x/night after I BF.

And then we have an A&A muslin blanket (double folded) on him with the room at about 70 (we live in the southwest, still warm). Should he get the blanket over him, he can still breathe thru it-it's light yet really keeps his body heat in.

They say you can use a light blanket at 6mo- if your LO can roll, move head, etc- our LO can do way more than that, so I'm not worried.

When we travel to a chilly location next month for Thanksgiving, we'll be doing warmer footed pajamas and  maybe use 2 A&A muslin blankets. I don't like the sleep sacks, because  it hinders their leg movement should they want to roll over or something.

  • To add, my pediatrician says the ideal baby sleeping temp is 64-68, but that you can get it get down to 60.  So you don't have necessarly have to heat the crap out of your house this winter unless you like it that way too.

SIDS also increases in the winter because too many parents over bundle their kids, granted we are pretty much out of the SIDS risk time, but I think adults think they need warmer clothes than they actually need, if that makes sense.

  • Our house is set to 70 and he has some leaky windows. If it's chilly, he'll wear a onesie under his footed sleeper. He then has a swaddle blanket laying over him (but not swaddled). When it's chillier, he has a light fleece blanket over him. He's a blankie kid. He will not fall asleep without his monkey blanket (or any other blanket, really) in his hands that he smooshes into his face.

  • P wears a onesie, socks and footie pj's.  Soon I will start putting him in a sleep sack since it is getting cooler.

  • We do footed cotton sleepers.  I have a few that are fleece, but she probably won't need those until it gets colder here.  If I do something with short sleeves like a onesie her arms are cold.  I also tuck her in with a blanket.  Our house hasn't been colder than 71 yet, but we will be keeping the thermostat set at 71-72 for the winter this year.  Her room is a bit chillier than the rest of the house because she has two windows in her room and its not a very big room.

  • She always wears a footed sleeper, and most of hers are fleece or heavier than just the cotton ones. She's not a fan of the sleep sack. Sometimes when she gets up her little feet and hands will feel a little cold when I change her, but it doesn't seem to bother her because she still STTN. We usually keep the house around 68-70.

  • Cotton footed sleeper and a fleece sack. Most of the sacks we have are armed ones. We keep the heat at 68 usually. Sometimes her hands feel cold when I go to feed her but overall I think she is comfortable.

Sometimes when it seems warm in the house I worry she's TOO warm in her armed fleece sack but she's never sweaty when I find her. She seems to sleep well when she's warm & cozy.

  • DD wears footie pj's and a cotton sleepsack to bed. Although for the colder months I plan to put her in footie pj's and a fleece sleepsack. The temps in our house are normally set to 72 degrees.

  • DD wears a short sleeve onesie, fleece footed sleeper and fleece sleep sack.  We keep our house pretty chilly (64 degrees), but DD has a small space heater in her room since it's the coldest room in the house.

  • Footed pjs right now. But after reading these, I think I need to add a fleece sack.
