Have any of you taken your LOs to the dentist yet? What kind of dentist did you (or will you) go to...a specialized pediatric dentist, or can they go to any kind of dentist?
We haven't gone yet. The pedi said go about 2. I think we will take him next summer to our family dentist. He is great and also my previous boss so we get free dental care. If I didn't have the free part, I would probably still take him there.
Our pedi also recommended to wait until he is two. We'll use a pediatric dentist only because our pedi is at the children's hospital so it's easier to stay in the same campus. But I've seen lots children's dentist clinics in town I think I would still look for one.
Our pedi says to go around age one, so we have gone. They just did a little cleaning on her, which at this age is just a really good brushing, and looked at her mouth to see if there were any problems with the teeth that had come in/are coming in. The dentist also talked to me and gave me tips for cleaning her teeth along with a list of foods to avoid.
We went to a pedi dentist. I know a family who took their DD, who is two, to a family dentist and they said that he just looked at her mouth really quick and did not do a cleaning. I'm sure it's fine, but I am glad our dentist did a cleaning.
I found a pediatric dentist in the area and took her in on Monday. They had toys and puzzles all around the waiting room so she was having a pretty good time. The exam itself was pretty....interesting. She was not a happy camper to have someone stick their finger in her mouth and brush her teeth!
