October 2011 Moms

I swear, everything is a struggle these days....

Recently, every. single. thing is a struggle with A.  Everything from putting on her jacket to changing her diaper is a massive PITA.  Just to put socks on takes 10 minutes and typically includes a wiggle fest followed by grunting and potentially crying only to have her rip them off in 2.2 seconds. Don't get me started on eating and riding in the car......ahhhhhh!

I seriously dread doing anything..is it just me...is it a phase?!?

  • I am with you!  I have convinced myself that it is a phase that he will outgrow very soon.  Fingers crossed for both of us!

  • All this week, I've had to chase DD around the room to get her dressed. While she holds onto her chair, I can pull her pants on. While she read a book, I can pull a shirt over her head. Don't get me started on changing her diaper while she flips over onto her belly and tries to stand up.

With great mobility comes great frustration.

  • Gator has been a nightmare for changing! She would throw herself around on her changing table so much she would be dangling off. I finally just started throwing a towel on the floor and change her on the floor and she holds still. I don't know what the deal is. Feeding has become a nightmare also. She throws her food on the floor, drops her cups on the floor, spits out her food, won't let me spoon feed her.......she used to love all food and eat everything and say "mmmmmm" after each bite. Now I am lucky if I can get her to eat.

  • yes, getting dressed is a pain. I'm trying to get her more involved by asking her to participate. Sometimes it works, sometimes she throws a shoe at my face. We've been doing lots of standing diaper changes.

  • I feel like a switch flipped on her birthday and my sweet little girl became a grumpy, whiny mess. She loves shoes, so she sits still and lets me put them on, but trying to change her is a nightmare. She has also taken to throwing herself on the floor and wailing like the world is about to end when she can't get the shape in the right hole, or push the button to make some toy do something. She gets so frustrated if things don't go her way on the first try. I try and tell her, "don't get upset, just try again" but obviously that logic doesn't work very well. Hopefully it is a phase!
  • In the past week or so you would think we are torturing her during diaper and outfit changes based on the way she acts. She got really pissed this morning when she crawled under her exersaucer and couldn't get out the other side. Instead of backing herself out she just sat there carrying on until I pulled her out.
  • I can only change Edison standing up and he hates having clothes put on. Car seats and stroller are a PIA. He goes as stiff as a board or flips around face first. Such a blast! He also wants to walk everywhere on his own so he hates being carried.

None of this is new though.

  • Levi has completely changed since last friday. He is whiny and clingy, he stands up during diaper changes, I have to chase him to change him, I have to wrestle him into his car seat. He doesnt like his high chair or his toys.

  • I just adore DS and love him so much but he has been driving me a bit nuts too. He has a fit every time he doesn't get his way, when he needs a diaper or clothing change, when we put him in his car seat, and when Mommy is either not holding him or not within 2 feet of him. I am thinking it is just a phase that will pass but it is stressful.

  • Sigh...I guess I'm glad It's not just us!! I'm sure it's just a phase...like, they don't know how to handle all of new mobility and independence. Let's hope it doesn't last!!

  • The only activites that make C not scream and throw a mini tantrum are chewing on furniture, putting crap she finds on the ground in her mouth and throwing her toys out of her play area.  Anything else ends up with her screaming and or crying and me being annoyed.  I hope it passes quickly but I am glad to hear it's just not my kid that has turned into a naughty little imp.

  • Diaper changes and strapping into the car seat are THE WORST.  Nightmare.
  • With us it is climbing. He climbs nonstop. If I let him climb, he can't get down and screams like a banshee. If I don't let him cry, also screaming. There is currently a pile of small furniture in my bedroom that needs to be removed until he can get ahold of himself. The high chair may be next.

  • Reading this makes me feel so much better. Laney has always been a huge pain when changing..she hates being still but this week she has started crying when I put her down or take something away from her or redirect her. She is a pretty easy kid so I was thrown for a bit of a loop..she also seems to be ignoring me when I call her especially if she is involved in something...glad to know it seems all the babies are going through this phase.
  • I feel ya! Bathtime and diaper changes in this house usually result in streaking.

I chase E down the hall yelling "Frank the Tank! Let's go streaking".
