I will be 11 weeks tomorrow, and have already had 4 ultrasounds done. I have had fairly heavy bleeding 2x and both times it scared the crap out of me. The first time I had an ultrasound done, I was told I have a heart shaped uterus. Dr. said that caused the bleeding, as the baby is in the right side of the uterus, and the left side of my uterus doesn't know I'm pregnant yet. Luckily, mine is mild, so I'm not considered high risk, but I will have ultrasounds every 4 weeks to make sure everything is ok. Baby looks great, is growing steadily, has a strong heartbeat, etc. I wanted to see if anyone else has been told this, and how things went for them.

I have this. It's mild. I had the same type of bleeding you experienced with my first pregnancy. My pregnancies have been, for the most part, typical. However, I did experience a partial placenta abruption with my first, so now I am considered high risk. It is not clear whether that was a result of my uterus or something else. There is the idea that it could be because part of the placenta attached to the septum and it received reduced blood flow. But, it's not been proven. For what it's worth, my second pregnancy was just fine with no issues. I was induced early to avoid any unnecessary risk (my abruption happened on my due date with my first pregnancy). This pregnancy, I will be very closely monitored at the end by both the regular and high risk obs with weekly non-stress tests.
Good luck!
Hope that helps some!
What your doctor told you about a side of you uterus not knowing you are pregnant sounds like BS. Your uterus "knows" because of the hormones of pregnancy, not because it feels it.
I have an arcuate uterus and I'm not high risk. I had a placement u/s to make sure the embryo did not attach to the small septum I have. I hope everything goes well and you don't have any more bleeding. One of the main problems caused my uterus malformations is the possibility the placenta attaches to a section with reduced blood flow.
HTH!

Thanks for all the feedback! It's good to hear that I'm not alone. When I first found out, they just casually mentioned that I had it, but didn't tell me what that meant. So of course, I googled it and was really worried by what I found. Dr eventually put my mind at ease & said it was ok.
