Infertility

1st Timer

So this would be my first time doing the IVF process.  I am on day 3 of the Luprin shot and the final day of the birth control they have me on.  I am feeling crampy, tired and my lower back is killing me.  Is this normal?

I go in for blood work and the ultrsound on the 23rd of Oct.  Then from there they will be able to let me know whether or not i can start the other shots in the evenings.  I think i am stressing out to much because i feel so alone in the process.  I mean my husband is there for me but he really doesn't need to do anything other than give up the sperm.  He's great and he tries to understand but he can't really know how i'm feeling.

I have discussed with my fertility doc that we will only be transplanting two viable embryo's.  This is due to my age (35) and the fact that i am high risk.  The high risk factor is high blood pressure and having Lupus.  This whole process has been a struggle with keeping the Lupus in checkm but so far so good.

Re: 1st Timer

  • Welcome! This is a great place to get to know others in the same boat. I'm also just beginning my first IVF as well. I started Lupron this morning, I'll stop the BCPs on Sunday, and have my first blood draw and ultrasound a week from tomorrow. If all goes well I'll start stims on the 29th. So it sounds like we'll be on similar schedules! Wishing you the best of luck!

  • Hi! And Welcome!  I'm a first time IVFer as well.  My protocol doesn't begin until the end of november though.  I'm stressing about the whole entire process so I understand.  I'm almost 30, but no one I know has either one gone through this or two even had a child.  I've looked to this board for several questions / advice and it has been very helpful!  I'm trying to stay positive and keep my emotions at bay, but that is easier said than done.  Good luck on your Journey and keep us updated with your progress!  I love hearing everyone's stories :)  HUGS!

  • Hello and welcome! I'm sorry you have to find yourself belonging here but in the meantime this board is a great place to go to ask questions, look for support, or even just vent about your day. As you said, IF is hard and can make you feel all alone so thats why we are all here to support each other. The ladies here have literally kept me sane throughout my whole IF journey. Also, you may notice that a lot of us have group pics in our siggys (October Pumpkin Patchers, November Turkey Basters), these are groups for people going through IVF in that particular month. They have weekly check ins that you can join and get the siggy pic code - it will help you meet people who are cycling around the same time as you and therefore might be going throughout he same thing as you.

    GL!!

  • Thank you for all the info. I was wondering about the patches and what they meant.   This whole process is very emotional and it's great to know that i am not alone.  Good Luck to you as well.
  • I understand the stressing out part!!  It's hard to watch the people you know and get pregnant with no problems, but i believe that positive thinking will bring positive results.... or at least thats what i am telling myself. LOL.

  • Welcome, i am also a 1st timer still on bcp and go back to the dr tomorrow for next steps. I also will be ER/ET close to turkey day! Prayers in the air to you.

  • Welcome to the board.  My hubby and I just went through IVF 1 and starting IVF 2 in a few weeks.  I have found so much support and understanding on this board.  Good luck, and yes the way you're feeling is pretty normal on the Lupron.  Fingers crossed you can start stims soon and get them over with.
