Is anyone else frustrated with their weight gain? I know in the big scheme of thing it is important to have a healthy baby but I really wanted to keep my weight gain down this pregnancy. With my first child I gained 3035 lbs. I lost all but 10 of those when I became pregnant with this child now after only13 weeks I have gained another 9. Which is way too much for the first trimester I know my problem is inactivity with dh working nights and dd being a handful to get to bed I have no time to exercise. I feel aweful none of my may clothes fit yet nor my regular clothes. I ordered a treadmill a few weeks back but it won't be delivered till next month. I need inspiration.
My question is whose working out and what are you doing?
Re: Weight frustration
This was me during the 1st tri. Slow walks around the block was all I really could do since I was sooo tired! Now that I'm in my 2nd tri and definitely have more energy, I'm back in the gym on the treadmill and just started doing prenatal yoga. My doctor doesn't want me to gain more than 15 lbs since I'm already overweight so I'm also really trying to watch what I eat and not give in too much to my cravings.
Over-40 parents...what we lack in vigor, we make up for with cunning.

I have fibro and arthritis, so over the past 6 years, I've gone from being a national touring rugby player to being a lump on the couch. I'm lucky if I can stand walking the dog for 45 minutes. However, I work 3-4 twelve-hour shifts where I'm pretty much on my feet for all but maybe an hour of the twelve. And I'm manipulating 350-550 lb sedated people. I figure that's my workout! LOL
For me, the key is absolutely watching what I eat. I have lost 7 pounds so far this trimester-- and I bet it would be more except for the fact that my boobs have gotten larger and denser and I'm clearly doing something around my middle because my body shape is changing but I still fit into my clothes.
Before anyone gets mad at me, though, I'd like to say that I'm starting at a higher weight and my doc said that it's common for overweight women to lose weight in their pregnancy (and still be healthy) if they watch what they eat.
I've been pretty good so far, curbing cravings and watching my portions. Until this morning when I ate a delicious breakfast bagel sandwich from my local organic market, a croissant, and a pain au chocolat. I think I'm going to have to skip lunch or eat only celery! LOL
I think just do what you can. I liked the suggestion of going for a walk with your daughter-- my sister used to do that when she was pregnant with her 2nd and it helped her a lot.
