Hey all! I know when there's been talk of meals on here, a lot of people recommend a lot of crock pot stuff.
Confession: I don't own a crock pot.
I would like to change that, though! If you crock, and your pot rocks, please share! Is it better to go big and just get a 6 qt one or should a 4 qt one be fine? Also, do you have any favorite crock pot recipes? Either a link to a recipe or good site with lots of recipes or a book? Thanks!
Re: NBR: Rec your crock pot (and recipes!)
I love mine. I have the 6 qt one, and it works out great. I just made tortilla soup tonight, and it was amazing. Another favorite of mine is pot roast. I add the meat, a cup of water, beef broth, french onion dip mix and veggies. It is the best meal ever.
I also make pulled pork or pulled chicken sandwiches. I add the meat, some water and spices, and when I get home from work add the BBQ sauce and let it simmer for an hour, and it makes plenty of leftovers, which DS loves.
I could go on, but search crock pot recipes, you will be surprised at what you find.
I have the big 7QT CrockPot brand slow cooker and I love it, I think it was $25 at Walmart?
One of my favorites is Easy Slow Cooker French Dip on allrecipes.com, super easy and absolutely amazing french dip sandwich recipe!
I LOVE our crock pot. I swear it's the only reason we ate at home (ever) by my third tri! We have a medicore one we got as a wedding gift (not the one we registered for, boo) but my mom has a fantastic Hamilton Beach 6 qt Stay or Go I think it's called. Also - I HIGHLY suggest the crock pot liners if you use it religiously, it's such a huge help on clean up!! Recipe wise, I have never found anything I don't like on Skinnytaste. I particularly love her crock pot italian turkey meatballs and chicken cacciatore. Otherwise, I spend time googling trying to find something not with cream of something soup. I also have a Gooseberry Patch book, but it's full of cream of something soup, which just doesn't fit in with my trying to eat better-ness
Man! I didn't get a bag
lol I've only used mine like 3 times since I got it a month ago but I'm planning to use it this week for 4 different meals so I have a feeling our house is going to smell amazing all winter!
grimmeaa do you mind sharing your mac&cheese recipe? I have yet to try it and was going to tomorrow night but there's a gazillion of them!
Am I the only weirdo that has like three different crock pots? We have a big one (7quarts I think?) that came with one of the little dippers. Then we have a 3qt smaller one that we use exclusively for queso dip for football viewing parties.
One of my favorite recipes these days is this one: https://skinnyms.com/slow-cooker-balsamic-chicken/
I like to use crushed tomatoes instead and I cut the chicken up then shred it before serving to make more of a sauce to serve over pasta. Flavor is fantastic and it's super easy!
I also like to do pot roast, pulled pork (basically just pork loin, onions, and bbq sauce), and cooking light has some good recipes!
