3rd Trimester

Menstrual Cramps

I have been having what feels like menstrual cramps for the past few days. It doesn't seem to be BH because my uterus doesn't harden, but it's definitely not comfortable.

In addition, sometimes I also feel an intense pressure on my pubic bone...last night it was so intense I couldn't stand up straight and had to hurry all hunched over to the bed. Those usually stop if I lay down.

So....normal? Mention to midwife at appointment tomorrow? Call now?

What do you think?

  • Contractions feel like menstrual cramps.  As long as they're not regular or more than a few an hour, I wouldn't worry.  Sometimes I get crampy when I have bowel issues.

  • I am 36 weeks tomorrow and have been experiencing this the past 3 days. Sometimes a warm shower helps, but i always comes back. I have a doctors appt today, im going to see what he says about it.

  • I've been having these and I asked my OB about it at my appointment yesterday and she said if its cramping that doesn't make your uterus harden or aren't regular and get progressively worse they aren't contractions and can be caused by some baby's movements when they are positioned down low. She said they're normal but to drink more water and they'll go away a bit so you'll be a little more comfortable.

  • I had those one night early last week and asked my doc about them when I went to my 37 week appt lastFriday, she said they are actually contractions even though I wasn't experiencing the BHs at the same time. I totally think that is what made me go from no dilation at 36 weeks to 1 cm dilated at 37 weeks. :)
