Even though I've been on this board for well over a year, it's been too painful to share my story until now. I am officially divorced now and it feels good to have it behind me. I feel stronger, happier and am able to share without having the pain associated with it.
The past year has been full of anguish and disappointment as I navigated my way through a heart-breaking and complicated divorce from his dad. We legally separated when I was 2 months pregnant. I learned he was having an affair with his nurse (he's a physician) - such a cliche, I know. They now live together in what used to be our house - our dream house with a room we had already designated as the baby's nursery.
Baby E and I have been on our own since I learned about the affair. I went to Lamaze classes on my own, had the baby on my own and am now raising him on my own. His dad has chosen to visit him only once when he was two weeks old.
My little boy is such a happy, playful and lovable little guy. He's been my sunshine during all of this. His laughter makes my heart glow. I love him so much and if I had to go through everything all over again just to have him in my life, I would do so in a heartbeat. He has given me the courage to live a truthful and honorable life. He gives me the courage everyday to get out of bed and live life to the fullest.

Ariana, so sorry you had to go through all that. As previous posters have said Elan is a lucky boy to have you and you must be a strong woman. I have a couple single moms in my family and I admire them.

I am of the firm belief that it is better for a child to grow up in a 1-parent household where that one parent is happy than a 2-parent household where both parents are unhappy.

I'm so sorry for what you have had to go through Ariana. I can only imagine how painful your situation must have been. I'm very happy to hear that things have been finalized and you can now look forward to a life you truly deserve. 100% agree. Happy birthday E and he is lucky to have such a strong mommy!! Thanks you for sharing your story. I was a single mom when my oldest has young, it's hard work, but nothing you can't handle.
Thank you for sharing your story, and I commend you as I think you're such a strong woman, inside and out. Not many women would have the strength and courage that you have in this type of situation. I hope you and Elan have a great second year with only happy memories and beautiful moments. Happy birthday to your amazing little boy!
