HI there, my husband and I have been trying for a yr and a half to concieve and have tried lots of fertility drugs and nothing's worked so far. I know we could easily continue drugs and other treatments but I'm just worn out emotionally. Wondering if adoption is a better fit for us?
Can any one recommend any good adoption agencies in MN.. so for Bethany Christan Services is the only one I've looked into..
Also can anyone share you experiences and anything that we should know from the beginning here? Thanks!

awesome, yes I've heard good things too! don't really know about any other "good ones" it's so hard to know!
But I'm excited cause we're going to an informational meeting hosted by Bethany in Nov. so that should help!
I have also heard good things about Lutheran Social Services of MN (you don't have to be Lutheran). I attended their info session this past summer and it seems like they have a pretty active program.

I can't really speak to agencies that are local to you, but I wanted to say that the best place to start might be with an introductory book about adoption. Books like Adoption for Dummies or The Complete Idiot's Guide To Adoption (which I used) provide lots of basic information on adoption, the different types, the processes, and how to research an agency. Other good books are The Complete Adoption Book and You CAN Adopt. Any of these will help you decide if adoption is right for your family, and if so, which type is the best ?fit? for you.
There's also lots of great information in the FAQs at the top of the page. If you haven't already, I highly recommend checking that out. Also, please don't be shy about posting. If you have any specific questions, ask away!
Welcome! Where in MN are you? I'm in SD and I am also going through Bethany, we are just starting our homestudy this week.
When we first started looking, I talked to some people in my area and people at church, everyone I have talked to said they loved working with Bethany. One couple told me they went through LSS for their first child and Bethany for the 2nd, and LSS wasn't bad by any means, but Bethany seemed to be a much smoother process. We went to an informational meeting with Bethany, and with the good feeling we felt mixed with such positive feedback we got, we just got started right away. GL! Hope you find what fits you best!

When I started out, I thought an agency was the only way to go--and in many states it is for DIA. For CA, though, doing an attorney adoption is also an option and that is what we did. It was the right fit for us and may be worth looking into to see what your state allows.

Only you know if adoption is a better fit for you. You have a lot of options, and IMO you should give yourself time to explore them and see what feels right. That said, a lot of people with IF who adopt feel a great sense of relief and hope when they put IF treatments behind them and move on to adoption.
I wouldn't necessarily limit yourself to MN. There are regional and national agencies as well. There are also law firms, consultants, facilitators, etc. See if there are places with informational meetings or even webinars so you can get more info.
I'd start with the FAQs at the top of the board and come back with specific questions. This is a great group of people from all types of adoption and all sides of the triad.
