We got back from our trip this past weekend to see the SKs.
It was a FANTASTIC trip!
We got to surprise SS at school on Friday at lunch time. He was coming in from the playground and we met him at the door. He was shocked and gave us a big hug and just kept saying "Daddy, daddy, daddy, daddy"!
We sat with him at lunch and he introduced us to all his friends. Afterwards we had made arrangements to meet with the PTO president and help her with some things around the school. We met SSs teacher and DH got some info that was pretty important about some recent small issues.
BM was 1/2 late meeting us with the kids later that day but we still made it to the zoo boo in time. We had brought costumes and my SD was thrilled with hers. SS was easy he had already told us what he was going to be so we duplicated what he plans to be on actual Halloween.
Saturday went great with a KidFest and 3D Hotel Transylvania and a little shopping ;-). We went swimming at the hotel and the kids kept saying they didn't want to go back to mom's Sunday yet. (yes I know it was the Disney parent weekend so that is why they said it, but DH smiled anyways as did I.)
Sunday the three of them went to get breakfast and I stayed at the hotel. I got the front desk to play along and gave them a printed note from an "elf". I had bought the Elf on a Shelf and set it by the fireplace at the front entrance. When they came in I was hiding around the corner and the front desk called them over asking if they were the kids he had the note for. I walked in and we all gathered the Elf box and went up to our room. We read the book and the kids were so excited to name their elf.
SD wanted to eat downstairs so we went down. I snuck off to "Fix" our keycard and got to our room and made a huge plastic cup (from the housekeeping cart of refill cups) castle. Took the toilet paper still on the roll attached to the wall and strung it way out into the room, under the elf's butt and had him hugging a few extra cups.
I got back downstairs and they were none the wiser. When we finished bfast and got upstairs the kids seriously were gasping for air laughing at their elf's mischievousness.
We will have them the first half of Christmas so we wanted them to at least know about him now and then we will have a few days of fun once they are here to do more.
We finished the day with a pumpkin patch, pony ride, type place complete with hot cider and donuts/cookies.
It was an AWESOME trip.
Re: Just back from trip to see SKs(longish but good)
If things get hairy during this trip, just "go to your happy place" and think of upcoming Vegas!
I'm so happy you are doing something for the two of you. You will be so recharged and probably have a refreshed feeling....just in time for the craziness that is Christmas. LOL!!
