DH's company gives him a token 1 week paid, but he is taking FMLA as well and applying his vacation time to it. I wish he worked at my company - he'd get 4 weeks paid!
My H actually has more leave than me. He gets 8 weeks if he chooses, and 6 of those are paid. He is taking them when I go back to work so we won't have to put her in daycare right away.
The company my husband works for has a "paternity leave policy" but it's really nothing more than FMLA for the most part. He's allowed up to 12 weeks off, unpaid, but also has to pay the insurance premium for the time he takes off. Sucks working for a small company.
We're due Jan 8th. His company closes from Dec 24-Jan 5. At that point, if she's not here yet, they're letting him work from home until she arrives. Once she does, he's taking the 6 weeks Paid Family Leave Act, which is just slightly less than his paycheck. He's almost taking as much time off as me!
We are really lucky. MH gets 5 weeks of paid paternity leave and then could use his 5 weeks of PTO in addition if he chose to so he could technically get paid for 10 out of 12 weeks of FMLA. However, that much time away from work is NEVER going to happen with the nature of MH's job. I am looking forward to the 5 weeks of paternity

The pp said unpaid, though, which is just standard FMLA.
No. But he does have plenty of vacation time saved up, so we are set. Plus his company is closed anyway between Christmas and New Year's.
He could always take unpaid FMLA if needed, but we aren't planning on it for him.
Yup.

He can take time off -- paid if he uses his sick/vacation time, un-paid if he wants more than that.
I wouldn't call it paternity leave -- it's not seperate from the leave he earned.
He will be taking one paid week after the baby is born and two paid weeks when I have to go back to work.
