DH and I have been looking at cribs non-stop for the past few days. I am very stressed about what kind of crib to get. We've looked at BRU, PBK, as well as regular furniture stores, and various websites.
At first we were considering the PBK Kendall. It was rated very highly on Consumer Reports and is also affordable. We also have a PBK coupon for 20% off which makes it even more affordable. However, I'm not completely crazy about the look of it. I like the look of their Larkin line better, and maybe the Catalina.
Do any of you have a PBK crib?
Did any of you choose NOT to get one for a particular reason?
I've been reading on the boards as well as elsewhere online that there are complaints that the cribs are not solid wood, they are not good quality, that you HAVE to buy their mattress as it's the only one that fits (and is that a bad thing? Are their mattresses bad?), etc. etc.
Just curious if anyone has any thoughts for or against PBK cribs.
THANKS!
Re: PBK cribs
Our crib is from PBK and is 5 years old. It has held up beautifully through 2 kids and we'll be using it again for #3. It seems very well made to me, especially since it has been through several moves and being assembled/disassembled and turned into a toddler bed a few times. It's very solid and sturdy.
I've heard nothing about having to buy a PBK mattress and the mattress I got at BRU fits it perfectly well. Maybe something has changed, but I doubt it since mattress sizes are standardized.
I would recommend it. I've been very happy.
While we have obviously not used the crib yet, we have the Kendall crib and the matching dresser. So far we love it! It is a solid piece of furniture that is VERY sturdy. We got our crib mattress from BBB and it fit perfectly, no problems.
I would highly recommend PBK so far!
which mattress did you get? I have read of people having issues with other mattresses fitting too?
We got this one and it slide in perfectly!

Honestly, there are better quality cribs out there for cheaper. I would never pay full price for one, but at a huge discount, probably.
Also the JCP Renew Crib is the same manufacturer as the PBK Kendall crib. Just a cheaper price.
JCPenney Renew $225
PBK Kendall $599
Emily 8.8.08
Madeline 1.2.11
William 8.5.12
FYI- jcpenney does carry a lot of similar lower priced options by the same manufacturers as more expensive brands but they are not the same. Or example it carries little castle chairs but they are smaller and a cheaper quality.
Also the Kendall crib is permanently on sale at PBK for $399, I pid $ 319 with the discount
