How long should it take for my bump to move above my belly button? If i lay on my back, my belly above my belly button goes down and you can see the bump.  I thought girls were (typically) supposed to rest high...

    I've been wondering this too... curious to hear from already moms.  I have heard though from friends that they have had girls that didn't rest high... so you never know!

    Well really the top of your uterus isn't supposed to be above or to your belly button until 20 weeks.

    Girls resting "high" is one of those old-wives tales that also suggest if you get wider you're having a boy or girls "steal your beauty" ideas.

    That being said, the uterus itself won't grow above your belly button for a few more weeks, irregardless of gender or preferred position of the baby.
