aden + anais

What makes these so much better than other products?  I hear people raving, but I'm not really getting what the hub-bub is about...

Re: aden + anais

  • Oh my gosh...their blankets and towels are SO soft. And they're big enough to easily swaddle baby. My friend, who has a 6-month-old, uses aden + anais swaddle blankets and I'm just in love with them.

  • I don't know, I used the swaddle wraps from Summer last time and I'm not sure if I would trust a regular blanket (DD was like Houdini). But I put some on my "list" of things to buy, it's a low priority but still on there.

  • So soft and a great weight--not too hot for summer, you can double in the winter, if needed. They can be used as a light weight cover for nursing, and they are absorbent which is good for catching a spit-up if a burp cloth isn't handy.  And they are really big and good for  a tight swaddle. Both of my boys were swaddled for 5 months, I wasn't a fan of dedicated swaddling dohickeys.

BUT you have to be sure to get the "good" ones.  There is a version at Target that is quite a bit smaller (I've seen them on Amazon too.) So be sure you are getting the ones that are (I think) 54".

I had the same houdini issue with DS and the Summer velcro swaddle blankets worked well. They only problem was that they were usually pretty thick and hot. The Aden and Anais ones however are thin and because they were so large DS had a hard time getting out of them. I became a swaddle pro.

Any idea if these are the "right" ones?

These are the ones I have on my registry

  • I love them, and my daughter, who is 4, still insists on sleeping with hers. Like PP mentioned, they get softer the more you wash them, and they're the perfect size for swaddling. I like to include them in gift baskets to new moms, too.

They look right to me (and I checked, I guess the "good" ones are 47").

The ones that are smaller will be called "Aden by Aden + Anais" and are usually closer to $35 like this: https://www.amazon.com/aden-anais-Cotton-Swaddle-Blanket/dp/B002USE15U/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1350416726&sr=8-2&keywords=aden+and+anais or will say "Aden + Anais for Target"

  • Honestly I am in the extreme minority, where I never got it!  I thought the hospital blankets worked best for the first couple of months and then used the Woombie until DD was 6 months old.  But I'm the only person I know who didn't think they were great, so listen to everybody else :)
  • DH and I couldn't decide if we should register for these or the swaddle me blankets. We opted for these. Sounds like me made right choice!

Ditto this almost entirely...except my DD is not quite 4. :-)  We were originally given 2 for our baby shower and now there are 7 in our house plus 1 is at daycare for naptime.  Often all 7 are on her bed!  Not sure if she'll want to share with the new baby...

(My other DD was never a swaddle girl and she likes fleece blankets instead.)

  • My mom gave me a blanket to swaddle. Apparently if the baby wiggles out of it while they are sleeping they have less chance of SIDS because the fabric is mesh-like and breathable. But I actually don't ever use it. I have a very squirmy baby who always manages to wiggle her way out of it. The hospital blankets keep her better contained then those. So I don't see what the big deal is personally.

  • Didn't have these for my first DD but heard rave reviews before #2.  So glad I bought a set.  They are so versatile.  As an infant we used them for a nursing cover, sun shade on the stroller, swaddling, burp cloth.  My son is 2 now and they are his lovey, he drags them around the house all day while sucking his thumb. We will be getting a second set of 4 for this baby.  I bought mine at Target and they are still huge I'm not sure they are really different sizes.

  • I didn't get them until LO was several months old and I was kicking myself for not getting them earlier. They are the perfect size for swaddling (my touchy baby slept swaddled until 6 mos in them!), they are soft, and they can be used for anything. They became LO's lovey-we got the 4-pack and switch them out each week, as she likes the feel of them, not the pattern.

  • They are great for spring and summer babies because they are light weight. They are incredibly soft and well made. My DS is 2 and still uses them. They are his fav blankies

  • I had registered for some bamboo A+A and just wanted to say holy cow are they soft. I haven't felt the 100% cotton cloths, but these are amazing. So light weight, really pretty patterns, and huge. I don't have a baby to use them on yet, but I can't wait! I registered for them because I kept hearing how awesome they were, and seemed like they may have good uses beyond the swaddle age. So far, I'm glad I did but we'll see once I get to put them to use.

  • I agree with PP's.....big, breathable, and easy to swaddle with.  I had so many swaddleMes and never even tried them because they seemed so silly once I had him home (though I know everyone has their preferences).
