Dealing with a stuffy nose...

I've never really posted on this board but am hoping you ladies might have a few ideas.

My toddler has a perpetually stuffy nose, thanks to the climate and such. But I am at a loss as to how to help him. He doesn't blow hard enough to get anything out. He won't let me use a bulb syringe. He won't even let me get a finger up there to just get the junk out! Any ideas?

TIA!

  • yeah try those saline drops- I turn my daughters (2 yrs 1 week) favorite show on then pretend like I squirt it in my nose first then she lets me put it up hers- same then with that suction bulb- I pretend to do mine and then she lets me do hers.  I only get a few tries though!  I tell her I have to get her boogers out and it makes her laugh.

I also use the humidifer and just wipe it with a warm moist cloth when its running.

    Good luck!

  • We keep the humidifier going to loosen it all up & then buy Boogie Wipes for her to use.  She can use them on her own & it doesn't dry up her face like a regular kleenex.  She seems to like doing that because then she can do it all by herself.

  • Another vote for saline drops and Boogie Wipes!

  • Mean parent here I guess but we hold them down & use the nosefrida. It's freakin amazing. We use the saline either before or after, depending. (if it is literally running out of their noses we use saline after to try to decrease swelling, or before if we need it to loosen up a little to suck it.  They certainly don't enjoy it but starting around 2 1/2 they realized that they can breathe a lot better after and DS in particular started fighting it less.
