Check in for the weekend!
Friday- rest
Saturday- 11 mile run
Today- 30 minute bike ride
For the first time since I started training, my knees are really starting to bother me. I'm going to ice them tonight. My 11 mile run was tough on me- it was pretty humid, even though I went early. But I was able to keep my pace and finished in 1:37 so I was happy with that. I'm going to start tapering a bit early so I can make sure my body is ready for the half.
Re: **weekend workout check-in**
Saturday I ran my half marathon (13.1 miles) and was happy with my performance. I felt OK until about mile 11, but thankfully there were lots of spectators starting at the 12th mile, so they helped me finish.
I finished in 2:27, which was 3 min under my goal and a little over 11 min/mile avg.
Today was a rest day!
Congrats!!!
I got nothing. My excuse is DD's cold. I don't want to take her to the gym nursery and expose the other kiddies.

Congrats! That's awesome! My half is next Sunday so am tapering off now. Getting both excited and nervous about it. I ran 5.5 miles with the stroller on Friday, a 6 mile trail run on Saturday, and nothing today.
Friday: Couch to 5K...I forget what day/week I'm on, but I ran 2 miles in 25 min. I know it's no where near marathon/half marathon training, but for me, it's amazing. I've never been a runner, and I had never run more than a mile at once. I was pretty pumped.
If anyone out there is considering the couch to 5K program, this is your nudge...do it!! Like I said, I wasn't runner before...I hated running! (I don't know that I consider myself a runner now, but I'm getting some great workouts!) I am taking my time with the program (sometimes I repeat a week if I don't feel ready to move on to longer running intervals, sometimes I take 5-7 days off between workouts...), and I don't run fast by any means. It has been so good for me!!
Saturday: 30 min cardio/strength circuit.
Sunday: nada
Congrats Rocky!!!
Friday: Hour workout at the gym
Saturday: 2 mile walk with Max, E and DH
Sunday: 45 minute workout with my trainer (I get one free personal training per month with our membership) I have lost now about 12-13 lbs since June. I also started using the rowing machine its awesome (nice break from the elliptical)
I am thinking about trying a pilates or yoga class, does anyone here do yoga or pilates? What is it like?

How much are you tapering? My training program suggests a 12 miler this weekend and my half is next Sunday. Yeah, that's not happening. I don't think my half time would be good if I did another long run like that. I was planning on sticking to my 3 and 5 mile short runs during the week, an 8-9 mile run this weekend, then short 2 milers next week with 2 days of rest before the half.
My knees are bugging me, too, so I have been resting. On top of that, I had a pinched nerve in my back last week...I just got back from the gym and did a butt-kicking stairmaster workout. I hate that machine! LOL!
That is so awesome! Congrats on crushing your goal! I have always felt that miles 1-3 and 11-13 are the WORST!
I usually taper for a week. I would not do another long rin this weekend. Your body is ready at this point, so you want to keep moderately active to avoid injuries. I would do short runs a couple of times but not within 5 days of the race.
My longest training run was 10 miles, a week before my half. My last week looked like this:
Sunday - 10 miles
Tues - 5 miles
Thurs - 2.5 miles
Friday - Rest
Sat - half
Looking back, I wish I would have maybe tried to do 11 miles, but I don't think 12 is necessary.
I was planning to keep my runs between 3-6 miles (with stroller)... but now I have come down with a bad head cold. Hope this passes before the race! I didn't run Sun/Mon. I am going to try a short run today and see how it feels. Btw, a friend mentioned that race day, the adrenaline will carry you a bit further than usual. I am hoping that's true
