Meat with a side of....

What are your go-to sides?  I swear we're always eating meat with frozen corn or peas.  I'm the laziest.

  • I'm a lazy cooker too.  I looove the Knorr rice sides...they are so quick and yummy.  Couscous boxes are quick and easy too...as far as veggies go, sometimes I'll buy a package of romaine and make a quick caesar salad.  I also do the frozen or steamable veggies.

  • Raosted potatoes, salad, raw veg with dip, rice, coucous or qinoa salad, sliced tomato with cucumber and red onions, home fries, baked potato. Those are my favs.

  • I do some of the above (Knorr packages), rice (white or yellow), egg noodles with gravy, mac & cheese, baked tater tots or fries, stuffing, scalloped potatoes (I buy those Betty Crocker boxes), baked potatoes, rice & beans

Eta-  I like this website, nothing fancy but the stuff under food/recipes are pretty good. I have made a couple things (baked crispy chicken, twice baked potatoes) and also has meal plans for 8 weeks I think. https://www.momswhothink.com/

  • I LOVE salsa...so I buy my favorite Market Fresh salsa and mix it with a can of corn!

  • We always buy the frozen steam bags of vegetables.  My favorites are broccoli and cheese and the green beans and potatoes.  We normally have a bag of veggies with every meal.

Yay! Let me know if they come out good! I love my crockpot but I need a new one... Instead of cooking on low for 8 hours it cooks on low for 5 hours and it's done. Good for when I am home but not for work and there is no timer. Keurig and crockpot on my Xmas list!

  • We do baked potatoes, sweet potato fries, homemade french fries, fresh green beans with bacon bits, grilled asparagus, bread/roll, fruit, cottage cheese, applesauce, orzo with sun dried tomatoes and feta, salsa with chips

I find sides really hard to come up with.

  • before our diet, fried potatos.   My husband thinks you must have a potato with every meal and he prefers to fry them.  also a side salad usually.  Now we have been doing alot of asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower, green beans and kidney beans as our sides but whoo hoo south beach diet, I have lost 10 pounds :-)

  • Some sort of veggie for the most part. We steam fresh green beans, broccoli and squash or boil carrots. We try to get carbs & a veggie but it doesn't always work. But we'll try some sort of pasta or potato.

  • I buy bags of frozen potato wedges, and frozen veggies etc. I also buy fresh veggies but they only last so long, so I can't buy too much or I have to throw out a lot. I don't get to the store every few days like I used to prebaby/on maternity leave.

My cooking style has changed a lot. I used to be a big cook, all making stuff from scratch and such. Now I am a lazy cook defrosting stuff from scratch and such. LOL!

I am trying to do more vegetarian meals just to force me to break away from having the same dinner all the time (some meat I defrost and whatever else I find to go with). The crockpot is great however that also takes planning ahead and getting up a little earlier in the morning. I am struggling with this full time working mom/healthy food provider thing to be honest!
