CK had her 1-year checkup yesterday. Her iron levels came back low, and the doctor gave us a list of iron-rich foods to try to incorporate into her diet. If that doesn't work, she mentioned doing a supplement. Well, now that we're stopping Vitamin D, think we should start another multivitamin, like Tri-Vi-Sol? Maybe that would help iron? I forgot to ask yesterday...
Also, CK has her FOURTH ear infection, so we're being referred to the ENT to discuss tubes. Anyone else been through this?
Just looking for some feedback from my favorite internet ladies...
Re: 1 year checkup - tubes & low iron - anyone else?
Nora also came back a little on the low side, but the doctor just told me to keep up on the iron rich foods: meat, spinach, kidney beans and to pair them with Vitamin C rich foods.
Nora had 3 ear infections last year by the time she was only 6 months old. My doctor hesitates to put tubes in childrens' ears based on the amount of ear infections; rather, he bases them on the severity of each infection. Nora may have had several, but they were all very mild. We haven't had any so far this year, but she hasn't had a cold yet. Yet...
DD has been anemic since she was born. We have been giving her Tri-Vi-Sol with Iron every night. Just giving her iron rich foods and cereal with iron (when she was eating purees) was not enough for her.
It took a week or so to get DD used to taking the drops. Now she takes them just fine. I brush her teeth right afterwards to try to avoid any staining.
I am sorry- I dont have any experience with tubes

As for iron, we use these and they're great. The taste is SO much better than Tri Vi Sol.

We use D Drops by carlson and it's just one drop every day. If you want to keep up the D you could put them in just about anything.
Also, my nephew ha tubes a couple months ago right before his first birthday. He did great and was literally himself within hours of the procedure. He hasn't had a ear infection since. It was the hospitals policy that she couldn't be there when he woke up and she said she wished she fought them on that and insisted on bring there.
