Sorta BLW question

I guess this could apply to spoon feeders too. We give our son quartered banana and he loves it. As happens with BLW, it gets EVERYWHERE, and I was super surprised to find out that it stains so bad. When it was hot we just fed him while he was in a diaper only, but it's too cold for that now. I've ruined half a dozen clothing articles, even if I have him in a full coverage bib and strip him and wash right away.

Any ideas?

  • Maybe reserve an outfit or two for eating?  I know that would be a PITA to keep changing though...  Even if it was  just a sweatshirt that you hauled over his other clothes...

  • DD still gets stripped down for "messy" food. Our house is heated so she's fine in just a diaper for dinner or lunch.

DD goes to a "messy" play group once a week and we have a onsie for there that gets covered in paint...the paint does not come out. Maybe you can just have two of these in rotation if you think naked is too cold?

  • I haven't tried this myself, but someone I know buys oversized tshirts at a yard sale or goodwill for their LOs just to eat in.  You could put it on over an outfit or just have him eat in that alone.

Beware, pears are the worst for staining--they leave everything BLACK!!

  • Have you tried Oxiclean? I can get most stains out if I soak in that for a while.

  • We still have DD in just a diaper for almost all meals! Her fav foods are the messiest - yogurt, anything saucy... We just keep the house a pretty comfy temperature. We do have a couple of sleeved bibs from Ikea that are nice for meals out.

  • I'm not sure what you mean by full coverage bib since there's so many different versions out there, but have you tried one like this with sleeves, then just put a towl over his lap https://www.amazon.com/Bumkins-Waterproof-Sleeved-Bib-Supernova/dp/B000EMBVIO
