I had quite an eventful labor and delivery with DS2, but I am so, so happy to have had a successful home birth! It was every bit as beautiful as I had hoped, even though it didn't go exactly as planned.
That is an amazing story! Even in scary situations, home births are completely possible and end in healthy moms and babies. Congrats on your baby and a job beautifully done!
My DD went transverse on me at about 34 weeks. Even though it was 6 weeks before delivery, I swear it was the most painful thing I've ever lived through. It was FAR worse than labor! She was transverse for about 36 hours, and it was horrible. And she kept pushing on me! I was, like, OMG -- just stay in a ball, please! Of course, she was well over 8 pounds when she was born, so she was probably a hefty seven pound baby at the time!
Good grief -- I can't imagine dealing with that at full term! You have my admiration!
I was also told my 2nd labor would be "so much faster" than my first. Wrong. It was about 3 hours longer. And I also didn't feel the same intensity and the changes between the different stages of labor. With #2 I just sort of labored along steadily until it was time to push him out.
