Shower Sling?

I've never seen this. Has anyone used one?

Theory is you can shower yourself (always a good thing...) and bathe baby at the same time.

I am wavering back and forth. Part of me thinks this is a great idea. The other part imagines me slipping in the shower and going down with baby.

I saw something similar on Etsy but it's for the pool - I think that makes sense. I think this is pretty silly. There will be much of your body that you cannot properly clean, this will not properly clean baby, you could get your harsh chemical shampoo/conditioner/body wash on baby and in baby's eyes, as you mentioned you could slip and fall, and LO could seriously hate the stream of water on them/in their face. Not to mention you may like your showers hotter than is safe for LO (I know I do.) I would just shower when LO is sleeping, or when your SO/DH is around.

I agree with pp. We either shower when she is asleep or bring the rnp into the bathroom and put it by the shower. If she happens to wake up while we are showering she is safe in her crib so it's not really that big of a deal.

This. In the past couple of months I've been occasionally taking a bath/shower with DS. Sometimes my back just hurts too much so I'll hop in the tub with him, bathe him and then I'll turn the shower on and clean myself quickly. I like the water more on the hot side so I'll leave him sitting on the floor and 95% of the time he loves it. If he starts fussing I'll just be extra quick but I personally wouldn't have gotten one of those slings ever.

I replied to this on AP but want to say here my son only showers with me and has never had a bath. I hold him most on the time and DH showers with me to help GREAT family bonding time! but when it's just me and LO I love my sling so much!

If you're worried about slipping, get a no slip bath mat! Honestly though how often do you slip in the tub? =P I'd also recommend a handheld shower head.

As far as water temp goes I like a hot shower and LO isn't bothered by it one bit. I was careful with the temp at first, but now I just put it where I like it and he's happy as a clam.

I'm a big advocate for showering together. My son LOVES it because he's warm and cozy the entire time, and it's a great bonding time for us.

I could see using something like this in the pool but not in the shower. I know that when I was nursing my breasts were often sticky and covered in milk, and showering was the only time they would get a good wash! Plus it was nice for my nipples to have some air and dry out properly afterwards. I guess I'm not one of those moms who feels the need to be glued to her baby 24 hours a day though. I could see how this could appeal to those in the AP camp. I either showered while DD was sleeping, or set her up in her bouncy chair where I could see her from the shower and she was happy as could be watching mom peek out from the behind the shower curtain from time to time.

I'm AP and think it looks silly. When I shower with LO I just hold him in my arms, but most of the time he's sitting in his chair in the bathroom while I talk and sing to him. Especially in the early days my boobs hurt a lot from nursing and the shower was one place where they could get a good wash and a nice break from baby. Knowing my kid, if I wore him in the shower with his milk source right there he'd spend the whole time trying to nurse.

I'm absolutely not glued to LO 24 hours a day. =P We don't really attachment parent I don't think. I just advocate for showering with because that time because it's special to me.

Kelly even if you don't go with the sling still give showering with your baby a try! DH and I didn't have a sling for a while and we just passed him back and forth to wash ourselves. They're not as slippery as you'd think.

I have definitely had days where I wished I had one of these. Lots of times she is happy to sit on the floor of the shower while I shower and play in the water, but on clingy days, when I either have to let her scream or pick her up and try to hold her under the water while I have shampoo in my hair, I have definitely though "man, it would be nice if I could wear my ergo in here..."
