Loud sleeper

I know that babies are loud sleepers. I am ok with that. But Alice makes these horrible grunty noises and snorts like she is trying to hock a lugie and can't quite get it. Her little face turns red and she lifts her chin and makes a face like she's fixing to cry. Then right as I am about to grab her because I am convinced she is choking to death, she relaxes and goes back to normal. Whiskey tango foxtrot? Is that normalish or something I need to bring up to her pedi?

I thought about that, but it is pretty much an ongoing thing. If she was pooping, it would last for a while then stop right? This is off and on for the while time she is on her back.

Eli does that when he's having a hard time pooping or getting gas out. It doesn't always last very long.

DD used to hoot and grunt and squeak A LOT, though she's either gotten quieter in the last few weeks or so, or I've started sleeping through her nighttime noises. I know babies have a restless period when they're sleeping about every hour or so. You could always bring it up to your pediatrician, though it sounds like it's probably normal baby stuff?

I havent noticed it when i am holding her. Just when she is laying in her cradle. I will ask her pedi at her appt next week.

I just saw the pediatric gastroenterologist I worked with for this same reason!!! DS will wake about an hr after eating and being sound asleep and will grunt, turn red, pull legs up. I do the same thing as you and when about to pick him up, he has his eyes closed and then he stops...for a few min. He does this all day and night!!! Makes me worried, upset then I start crying b/c I worry he is hurting and I feel helpless.

The pedi gastro dr told me to watch my diet. Little to no dairy, eggs and nuts. He wants me to keep a food diary to see if we can pinpoint something. He also said that Mylicon (simethicone) does not work. He said Gripe Water may help. I just gave him some and he is sleeping soundly...for now. If these things don't work, he said we can try a special formula for a few days and see if that helps.

I expected my DD to be in my room until she was 2-3 years old, but at 10 weeks I couldn't sleep with her grunts and small cries and moved her into the nursery. Pedi said her noises were normal. I do like what the pp said about changing diet for BFers, but hadn't pursued that.
