STM and ST+M - Gear question

Do you have an wish list or must have items that you had to baby #2 (or beyond) that you didn't have with baby #1?  We are fairly minimalist as far as gear but I worry I am missing some sanity saving product that didn't exist even a few years ago when we had DD.

 Thanks!

  • The only thing I can think of that I want to get is a Rock N Play sleeper thingy.  They didn't have those when I had DS (I think they came out very shortly after) and it would have been perfect for DS to sleep in as a newborn (it's everything he preferred as far as a place/position to sleep) so I think we're going to pick one up.

  • I love my Ergo and Sophie the Giraffe.  Sophie seems like an expensive dog toy since it squeaks, but it was the only teething toy DS would take.

I picked up an ergo this time around and had Sophie with DD#1 (I love that thing!)  Thanks!

  • The only thing we are doing differently is the carseat. We started with a convertible last time (it made sense with our car and our lifestyle at the time), it makes more sense for us to start with an infant seat this time. Everything else is the same gear wise, or at least it will be starting off. We might change something once the baby is here, and we find he is really different from DS1 or something.

  • a bouncy seat!!! if you didnt register for one or purchase one...DO IT!!! We didnt when i made my registry for DD bc i thought it was more for 'playing' and didnt want to ask someone to buy our baby a toy to sit and play in. But someone ended up getting us one anyway...and OMG, it was lifesaver through TWO kids!!!! thats my big 'must have' i think lol. Oh and the rubber nose suction thingy's at the hospital. for whatever reason, the hospital ones were IMPOSSIBLE to find in stores and they were the only ones that worked really great. we had one that came in an infant care kit (w/ like nail clippers and stuff) and it was awful. it was all hard-rubber instead of  flexible like the hospital ones. made it hard to get the buggies out of tinie tiny little nostrils. Just something i personally thought was a great thing to have on hand. So remember to take a few from the hospital when you are there.

This exactly. I am hoping this product will help LO somewhere other than on me for the first few months.

I could not agree more!!  I also didn't register for one and someone got one anyway and I honestly thought of taking it back!  So thankful I didn't!  DD slept in it occassionally because she was BAD the first month or so!  I am actually thinking of trying to upgrade to the Rock n Play this time.  We also lived in our swing for the first 3-4mos!  DS really enjoyed it a lot.

Already have 2 bouncy seats from DD#1 and I agree - can't live without them.  And the nosesuckers from the hospitals are unmatched by anything else :)  So much so that I plan to conveniently "lose" several in my hospital bag before leaving :P

  • I also really want a RnP. That's really it, but I may have to get a bigger diaper bag.
  • I'm getting a nicer carrier this time.  I had a cheapy mei tai that I fell in love with last time, but lost it, so I'm spending a bit more money on a well made mei tai that I can use all the time with this kiddo.  I also plan on using a humidifier and sound machine this time.  I picked one up with DD1 was about 8 months old and it really seemed to help her.  Think I'll use it from the beginning this time.

  • A portable swing. I had the Fisher Price Take Along Swing and LOVED it for my son. It was so great to be able to take it with when we had to go places. He was very much a swing baby.

I agree with this. Someone gave us a Sophie and I thought it was ridiculous how much they cost, but DS LOVED it. Our Sophie had an issue with our dog thinking she was a dog toy... so we will be getting another one for this LO.
