Anyone else freaked out about getting pregnant again?

Because I am.

I am breastfeeding, and my doctor recommended the mini pill at my 6 week checkup, in part to make sure it didn't affect my milk supply, and because he thinks waiting until 10 weeks postpartum for Mirena or Paragard is best. Fine. I have been taking the mini pill ever since, and am mostly really good at taking it within an hour of the same time each day. I've had two days where I was outside the 3 hour window, and avoided sex for 48 hours afterward.

But for the last two weeks I've begun to see EWCM, and when I've taken OPKs, like the one this morning, a few have been *almost* positive. Today I'm super crampy and having some slight spotting. So maybe my period is on its way. In any case, the EWCM has me freaked out. The mini pill is supposed to work by thickening your cervical mucus to make it difficult for sperm to make it to the egg. EWCM to me is a sign that the pill isn't really doing its job. Maybe I'm wrong. But it's getting to the point that I am avoiding having sex because I'm afraid I'll get pregnant again.

I have an appointment with my doctor for Wednesday to discuss getting the Mirena, because I can't take this. I still get up with DS during the night so charting my temps isn't going to be reliable, and I'm just not comfortable relying on FAM to avoid pregnancy right now. Anyone else feel this way? If you're using Mirena (esp if you're breastfeeding) how do you like it?

Have you already gotten your first period pp?

I'm not using mirena but am EBF. I stopped taking the mini pill because it was so uncomfortable to have sex because it is very drying. As for being afraid to be pregnant again, I'm afraid to get pregnant this year. But will be looking forward to it by June of next year...:)

I haven't gotten my period yet, so my understanding is that right now the odds of pregnancy really are very low. But based on the spotting and cramping today I wouldn't be surprised if I am about to get my period.

I very much want a second baby, but not in the next year! We paid $5000 out of pocket to have DS and it delayed my transition to partner in my firm by a year. I need to make partner and we need to be in a better position financially before having another kid.

In general I'm not freaked out, as we're kind of planning on #4. But right now, in reality, yeah it's not something I'm planning. That said, I'll be very happy to get my period this month as DH and I were intimate a couple nights ago and forgot to consult about where in my cycle I am (we use NFP) before...ahem...concluding....

I got the Mirena about 8 weeks pp and am happy with it. I also had it with my first son. I got it at 6 weeks pp that time and kept it in for over 3 years until we tried for this baby. I got it taken out and waited a couple cycles before TTC, then got pregnant our second cycle. I BF last time and this time too, no supply issues. I was too nervous about missing a pill with the mini.

I am insanely paranoid about it. We are done with having kids, so we definitely don't want a "surprise". DH is getting snipped eventually, but his training schedule is so busy that I'm not sure he'll have time to do it any time soon. He's deploying soonish and I don't want to go back on the pill for that short amount of time, so right now we're just using condoms. If I feel like I'm ovulating, I do avoid sex.

At my PP check-up, the OB prescribed the old combination pill I took before. I told her I thought I was supposed to be on the mini pill if I was EBF. She said since my supply was established, it was fine and she never prescribes the mini pill. I didn't feel right about taking it so I piggy-backed on DS's 2 month appointment and asked our family doctor if he could prescribe the mini pill. He agreed with the OB and basically said to start the pill and if I noticed any supply issues, to come back and we'd discuss other options. I really trust my doctor so I started the pill. I didn't have any supply issues but I was never comfortable taking it so I stopped after I finished the pack.

I don't really want to go back on any birth control at all, and we only used condoms at the beginning of our relationship. So, risky as it is, we just pull and pray. It's not ideal for me to get pregnant right now, but it really wouldn't be that big of a deal if I did. I was paranoid at first when DH agreed to me not taking anything, but I'm just going with it now.

We aren't done having kiddos but I want a least a few years between them. I got Mirena at about 9 weeks PP and aside from the constant bleeding (not much - more like last day of your period type bleeding but still annoying) it's been fine. I only stopped bleeding a couple weeks ago though. But no supply issues. We're BFing/pumping when I work
