Right now I refer to her as "Special (BM Name)" when talking to DD about her. At this point BM is not in DD's life, but when we pray for her and talk about her I refer to her as "your special (BM)". If that makes sense (I don't walk around calling her special (BM), only when talking to DD and pointing out she's HER special (BM).
My cousin is adopted, and he's always referred to his BM as "His special Jenny", so we just followed suit.
When I was growing up my parents always referred to my birthmother by her first name, and I still call her by her name. I call most of my birth family by their first names, except for my birth-grandmother. I called her grandmother herfirstname, but I called my parent's parents nanny & pawpaw and gran & gramps. Just kind of how it's worked out.
For my oldest, sometimes just "Mama", and sometimes "real mom" or "first mom" - but she was his main parent for a few years so there is more of a relationship there.
