Experience with faint line...

Hey girls,

I got what looked like a bfp yesterday but it was a very faint line, obviously there but very faint. I testing again this am with fmu and the same test brand and the test line is even lighter than yesterday. I am not due for another 3-5 days, so I am wondering if I am getting a wonky read b/c it's a bit too soon. I also go a false negative with DS1 5 days before my period.

I am not usually one to obsess over these things at first, but I realized just how much I want this pregnancy to be true and stick. I accept the fact that there's a good chance at 4 weeks along that this may not stick and in theory I am ok with that.

Just looking for a couple of positive outcomes from similar situations.

Hard to say but a line is a line. I suggest waiting a few days and testing again. Good luck!!

I had an insanely faint line at 5 days before my period...so faint you needed to squint and hold it up to the light. The next day with a different brand it was lighter. At 3 days before my period I got a darker one but still pretty faint. I hope it is a positive

The first line I got my husband didn't see. I had to hold it a certain way and tilt it back. It got darker as the days went on.

I would test again closer to when your period is due. I wouldn't be able to do that so I would test every morning just to check. That's actually what I did.

I got a very faint line 4 days before my missed period, it was barely there. As the days went on my line got darker each day until the day my period was due and by then my line was super dark! They say a line is a line so as hard as it is I would wait 2-3 days and test again with FMU, I'm sure your line will darken!

With my first I had a similar experience so I went out and bought a different type of test, the kind that says "pregnant" or "not pregnant". Maybe try that?

ETA: oh, and I was pregnant...

This was a week after my period was due. Just for the record, it was definitely positive. I also got a negative result on a digital after this.

This made me feel better, mine is even lighter than that. Only time will tell but man I am impatient.

Thanks ladies, you've made me feel a bit better I'll let you know what comes of it all.

What all the PPs said. Get a digital, though! They are as sensitive as many of the EPT ones (50 mlU) and much less difficult to decode. Just make sure you follow the directions exactly, because if you don't, you'll get an error symbol. I didn't pee enough the first time and got an error. Almost didn't retest that day - but I'm glad I did because I got my BFP later that afternoon!!

Protips: Use your first morning urine, and/or don't drink a ton of water before you test. Test on the first day you expect your period, if you can stand to wait.

I had very faint lines for 4 days. They barely got darker. We wanted a darker line before we told our parents. I got impatient and bought a digi. It was positive. Go get a digital, it will probably pick it up.

This cycle I tested and got a faint positive. My partner and I just stared at it for a minute and kind of didn't want to read into the result. I went into the doctor a few days later and had a blood test and they confirmed the pregnancy. They had me come in 48 hours after the initial blood test and do it again to be sure that the levels were rising, and that they were. I guess they say that a positive is always a positive, but a negative isn't always a negative. I hope you get your BFP. Mine was 2 years in waiting

I took two home tests after a missed period... and then again after a blood test confirmed it. All were very faint. We had our first ultrasound on Thursday and I took another test after that, just out of curiosity... still faint. I wouldn't worry!

I got a VERY faint line with this pregnancy 2 days before my missed period. I waited a couple more days and tested again and it was darker. With DS I got 2 false negatives when I was about 4 weeks pregnant.

I will test again on wednesday or maybe just wait until fri. I need a break from it. I am shocked at how quickly my mind ran with this. Obsessed. I had DH hide the test in his office and give it to me wed morning

We have been TTC since 2009...I can not believe I FINALLY got a BFP!! I was on clomid and metformin for three months and BAM! I took a test the day after my missed period, and it was a BFP! I took a different test the next day and it was more faint, but still positive. I have my first visit November 2nd :0)

a line is a line.. congratulations, your probably 99.9% pregnant! I took a crappy pregnancy test about 5 days before my missed period, just for laughs and giggles, and sure enough, It said I was pregnant. I took a blood test a day later and it came back that I was pregnant, my doctor was joking and said that i've only been pregnant for a minute. i'll be 9 weeks on wednesday

if you have a false negative, at one point you were probably pregnant, called a chemical pregnancy, but around the time of your period it was probably reabsorbed into your body, or released when you got your period.

With my losses, the line just stayed faint but this time I had a faint line that got stronger. I'd suggest skipping a day and retesting the following. Congratulations on your BFP though...a line is definitely a line!!

I agree, a line is a line! Congratulations! When I tested it was at night because I wanted a beer and wanted to make sure I wasn't. LOL It was faint on an IC & a FRER but I got a negative on the digital. The next morning they got darker and three days later I got a positive on a digital. If you haven't even missed your period yet it's pretty common for the line to stay pretty faint.
