Printing shower invitations

Has anyone had shower invitations printed at like a kinkos or similar place? I really wanted to design my own personally because I enjoy that sort of thing. Its fairly simple so I'm going to print them myself rather that have our friends pay for something else... Long story short, they have spent a lot of money already so i told them I'd totally not mind getting invitations made.

Anyway, I made them on Microsoft office and plan to print 4 on a page. But what kind of paper should I use? Do I buy paper at kinkos? I would like to use a thicker possibly glossy card stock type paper. Just curious if anyone has done this before, what did you use? TIA!

Re: Printing shower invitations

  • Check with the kinkos or print shop you plan to use before you buy paper. Some places don't let you bring in your own paper (it could jam in their printer). I would use matte finish card stock instead of glossy. I think it looks nicer for invitations.

  • I'm a graphic artist/web designer so I insisted I make my own invitations!

My host said okay, and so I designed them and had them printed at my local Staples. It cost me roughly $47 for 100 on glossy paper. (I have a very large pool of friends plus it's co-ed; don't judge me.) If I calculated it out... this saved me lots of money!

While designing, I did think about printing them myself so I looked into it. For invitations you do want some kind of card stock. Whether its matte or glossy is your own preference. Just make sure you know if your printer is an inkjet or laser so you can get the right paper. Although, I believe most card stock work well with both now. I like Staples, the store here is huge and has a ton of options. I can't say much about Kinkos since I've never worked with them but I have heard wonderful things. I really think that it's easier to just have them done somewhere. And if they mess up, you can absolutely have them fix it. As opposed to if something were to go wrong at home, you'd be all stressed out (I was because I tried printing my own matching favors box stickers.) Oh keep in mind when designing that it always comes out a bit darker when printed.

This is what I came up with for the shower. Again taking them somewhere definitely make the difference for me. When I tried printing these stickers, they ALL came out misaligned. I found it wasn't just me either after reading the reviews.

GOOD LUCK! And I hope you have a wonderful shower!
