Should I be getting flamed here? We are still using our breatheable bed bumpers. He does stand in his bed (while wearing his sleepsack), but if he stands on the bumpers, they collapse and scootch down so they are the same height as the mattress.
I've had the bumpers that came with his bedding set in his crib for months. Smart kid figured out how to smoosh them down at the end to use as a pillow.
July 20th, 2012: Never forget the day the fb douchebags tried so hard, but ultimately failed. Viva la October 2011! Yeah, I called you douchebags.

I actually just switched to the mesh bumper a couple of days ago when we finally moved Sam out of our room. We had the regular cute one in his crib but he was only taking occasional naps in there. Now he's in there every night, so I felt better about the mesh. I'm more worried about his leg hanging out than I am about him climbing on them, so it will stay that way.
We still have the breathable bumpers, we bought her toddler bedding so we never had regular bumpers. I took them out to wash them once and she got her legs stick between the mattress and crib slats.

I've only washed them once when I first bought them
We have always used regular bumpers! Y'all can flame for that.
He still scots to the edge of the crib a lot so I'm glad he has the padding. He doesn't mess with climbing on them but they flop if he does so he couldn't use them as an escape.

No flames here! We are using regular bumpers. They also collapse to mattress height if he steps on them, so I don't see how they could be used as a step out of the crib. Maybe I am missing something.
Same here!

Us too. DD also uses them as a pillow. I don't think they would be useful at all for climbing on. DD is not even close to climbing out anyway, I don't think the thought has even crossed her mind.
I am using a partial bumper, top portion of crib only. My LO was banging her head against the slats. Same as a PP said, not sure how she could use them to climb as they collapse and it doesn't seem possible.
We use regular bumpers. DD likes to to put her legs on them and she sometimes uses them as a pillow too. They collapse down also so I don't see her getting out of the crib because of the bumpers.
We were 2 under 2, now 3 under 3!

We still use the breathable bumper as that's the only bumper we've had. DS likes to get his legs stuck through the crib so its just easier to leave them on.
