recommend your LO's utensils

I plan on giving LO solids at 6 months. LO is 4.5 months and I have been looking for feeding spoons and bowls. I'm looking for bpa free, non toxic utensils and bowls. Green sprouts has some interesting stuff, but before I order, just checking to see what you are/plan on using...?

  • we are looking too, but I think we will start sometime after 5 months. I haven't decided yet.

  • we're waiting until 6 months as well, but I'm thinking we'll go with something like this:

  • We started with some bamboo spoons with DS1 and he hated them. At first we thought he just wasn't doing well with solids but then when we were out one day and used a regular plastic spoon he loved it. I think it was the texture of the wood on his tongue.
So I tossed them and just got the Munchkin stuff. I also like the mesh feeders and the suction cup bowls with lids are great as they get older. Another thing we still use is our travel suction cup placemat.

  • I inherited all my spoons from a friend but I believe they are gerber.  I got some bpa free bowls at meijer the other day-I think they are munchkin-they have lids and one lid is vented for microwaving.

I also brought some freezer safe 2oz containers for freezing purees.  I got the fresh n freeze 2 oz containers from amazon.  I also have some from BRU but they were extremely hard to close.  I don't think I'll be using those.

  • I bought a munchkin 6 pack at target for 2.99, the same pack was 5.99 at BRU! Ugh. Lol. I like the spoons, but they're handle heavy so they tip out of bowls really easily.

We are making out own food, and right now I have the fresh and freeze storage containers that I feed him out of, and we also use our little ramekins and sauce cups that we already have because I haven't bought bowls or anything yet. shrug

I was considering bamboo but the utensils seem too bulky and hard. Have you checked out green sprouts? There stuff is supposed to be made out of corn, its interesting. I can't find anything else so I think I may be ordering from them. Green sprouts baby.

I haven't seen that, thanks for the suggestion! Although we're planning on doing BLW and just letting her explore & eat with her fingers off her tray, I know "best laid plans" often go awry with DD : ) I'd like to have a few spoons & dishes on hand. I'll have to check out green sprouts.

  • We do baby led solids and for the most part just use regular silverware.
