Haven't felt movement yet...

Should I be worried?  I'm 17+1 and I know some don't feel until 20 but I'm kinda starting to get worried that something's not right.  I'm a little overweight so I know that makes it take longer but my dr said my placenta is on the back so it will be faster than if it were else where.

Anyone else not feeling movement yet?

Re: Haven't felt movement yet...

  • With my first, I didn't feel anything until 18 weeks. Even then I wasn't 100% sure it wasn't just weird gas until the doctor pulled out the doppler and we heard her moving around in there.

  • I am 16+5 with my 3rd child and still haven't felt any movements yet. I figured I should by now since it's my third, but I'm still waiting.
  • I'm 17w4d and I haven't felt movement yet either. I don't expect to feel it for a few more weeks yet. At my last doctor's appointment, my doctor said that I'd probably start to feel something by this week but most of what I've heard and read says that it is more common to feel movement closer to 20 weeks, especially as a FTM. I'm also overweight so I'm sure that will make the wait longer as well.

Now, although I haven't been feeling movement, I HAVE been having pains in my lower abdomen that haven't been caused by my own movements. I started having what I'm assuming is RLP around 8 weeks. Most of what I've read says that women don't usually experience that until around 14+ weeks. But what I was having early on was definitely RLP. It was brought on by sudden movements, coughing, laughing, sneezing etc...and was sharp, stretching-type pains on either side of my lower abdomen. For the last two weeks I've had similar pains that have occurred while I'm just sitting or laying still. My doctor said that it's the baby pushing itself into my lower abdomen. So even though I'm not feeling any actual movement, I guess I'm feeling the effects of movement.

I wouldn't be worried. Everyone is different. Just try to keep your chin up and keep a positive attitude. You'll feel movement on your own time.

  • I felt this one at 18 weeks 3 days. I was also concerend up until then. But got a big kick one morning.
  • No movement here either, but I'm not concerned. Doctor told me to be prepared for it in the next week or two, which will put me around maybe 20 or 21 weeks. Everyone feels it at different times. TBH, I don't think I felt my daughter until 22 weeks, but i would have to look in her baby book to confirm. Don't be worried, honest.

  • I haven't felt much movement either.....sometimes I think its movement, but then I second guess myself its gas.

  • I haven't either- and I'm on the small side.  From what I understand, women begin to feel movement at different times.  I'm also still waiting to "pop"- I can tell there's something going on with my abdomen, but others probably can't yet.

  • I wouldn't worry either, I barely started feeling movement daily and it isn't even consistent. I will be 20 weeks this week so give yourself a couple more weeks..:)

  • 20 + 2 and nothing yet.  At least I don't think so.  Doc says it's completely normal, and that most first time moms don't feel anything until around 22 weeks.  I'm certainly looking forward to it though!

  • I suppose I was feeling alone in this 'cause so many posts have been about movement and feeling the LO move around and stuff.  I definitely will feel better next week when I visit my new doc and have a check up. Thanks ladies for the support! :)

  • I hadn't felt anything at all and was a little worried, until exactly one week ago today, at 18 weeks. Now the little one is constantly reminding me that s/he is there! Don't worry, it'll happen soon.
