2nd Trimester and Root Canal

Hey All! I am currently at 12 weeks and recently went to the dentist to find out that there is a possibility I may need a root canal. My dentist wants to get me in at 16 weeks ( 2nd Trimester ) to avoid a possible root canal. However, it is recommended by my doctor to wait as long as I can. Keep in mind, if I go in sooner, I may only need a cavity filling and not a root canal. The longer I wait the risk of root canal and infection go up. I'm at a loss. Any thoughts? Anyone know anything about these possible risk?

Re: 2nd Trimester and Root Canal

  • When I first found out I was pregnant my doctor told me to get my teeth taken care of asap. I had a tooth pulled when I was like 14 weeks. Thats crazy that they are telling you to wait. She said that taking care of your teeth is important for the baby. Good luck with whatever you decide!
