My son is turning 1 in just a bit and I am worried about him getting enough nutrients once he is completely weaned from formula (we stopped breastfeeding last month) and drinking cow's milk.
Right now this what a typical day looks like:
8 am: 8 oz. formula; some gerber oatmeal with baby food fruit mixed in.
11 am: 6 oz. formula
1 pm: Bits of chicken or turkey
2 pm: 6 oz. formula
6 pm: 8 oz. formula
6:30 pm: Pouch of Happy Baby Chicken or Beef Stew or Sprouts Beef Lasagna
I need to work on him eating a lot more "real" foods right?
What are your one year olds eating?
Re: Weaning off of formula/breast milk
I would definitely start incorporating more finger foods for him. He should be getting most of his nutrients from those when he turns 1 year.
Here are some ideas:

BFP #2: 8.31.16 Dx w/ GD @ 28w DD Born @ 36w: 4.21.17
I would start modeling his meals after what you eat yourself. At 9 months my dd is already eating much more than that in a day, in addition to her 6-7 bm bottles. Some examples of her favorites are:
blueberries, yogurt and a mini wheat pita
apple oatmeal muffin and banana
pumpkin pancakes and pineapple
grilled cheese sandwich
ravioli with sauce and mushrooms
chicken meatballs
hard boiled eggs
any steamed veggie (broccoli, carrots, sweet potato and diced/roasted squash at favorites)
She's also had enchiladas, quesadillas, pizza, quiche, and other stuff. Try giving your baby some of what you're having. My guess is, they will surprise you.
My DS started rufusing purees, so we completely switched to finger foods.
Morning- 6am: 6oz bottle of formula/WCM
Breakfast: I usually break up pieces of muffins, eggs, toast and fruit
Naptime- 10:00am: 4oz bottle of formula/WCM
Lunch time 11:30ish - pretty much any food that I eat. today we had some taquitos, cheese and veggies.
Naptime- 2:30ish- 4oz bottle of formula/WCM
Snack time- 4ish- dried fruit and veggies, puffs and yogurt drops
Dinner- whatever I'm making for dinner, he will have some
Bedtime- 8:30 6oz bottle of formula/WCM
DS is having a hard time weaning off of formula, so I'm mixing half WCM and half formula.
I agree that by one 'real' foods should be getting into his diet. Do you all eat as a family? Are you uncomfortable with giving him some of the same food you make for yourself?
Grilled cheese, veggie burger, beans, chicken and dumplings, spaghetti, meatloaf, fresh fruits cut up
cut back the amount of formula and follow each bottle with a full real food snack or meal
My baby just turned 1, still breast feeding at night and morning. Here is what a typical day looks like for us:
7:30 - 8:00am- wakes up and nurses
8:30 - 9:00am- scrambled eggs with cheese, fruit, cereal (whatever I can get her to eat as she isn't very interested in breakfast)
Goes to daycare with 3 4oz bottles of milk.
11:00 - 12:00pm- lunch consists of a variety of protein (chicken, turkey or tofu)' a vegetable (peas or carrots mostly), a grain ( rice or pasta) and mixed fruit (fresh).
She also gets a couple of snacks throughout the day: Cheerios, yogurt melts, puffs, etc.
She is a good eater and I try to keep trying new things so she won't be picky and she grows. She loves peas and Mac and cheese ( I buy the organic white cheddar with whole grain pasts).
THank you for all of the suggestions!
He does eat Mum Mums and Puffs but I don't count those as "real" snacks.
