IRS will NOT pay us our adoption credit....

We finalized April of 2012 and filed our taxes April 2013. We got a letter saying they were reviewing our paperwork, a few months later they asked for a few documents and we sent them in right away. We got another letter saying they were reviewing our paperwork, a couple of weeks later they asked for more documents. (Different documents than the first time) We sent them in immediately. We received another letter stating they would review our documents and we will hear something around December 1st.  We have done every single thing they've asked of us. I have never heard of anyone else going through this. I'm so frustrated! We really could use that money we've been counting on since about June. Has anyone ever been denied their adoption credit?

    I don't have any advice. I just wanted to say I really hope they get it all sorted out and you get your credit soon! Hang in there!

    We are just filing this month so my experience is limited to tales from other people.

    I've heard of people waiting... but no one on any adoption boards I've read have reported being denied.

    Hang in there and may the money fairies visit soon :)

    Have you actually been denied, or are you still awaiting their decision?  If they did deny you, what was their reason?

    No, they have not denied us but keep asking for more documents. All the same documents you have to send in when you file.  It's getting so frustrating! Thank you everyone!

    I'm sorry. I know it's frustrating, but I have never heard of anyone being denied, so hang in there.

    I got reviewed. I called bc I wanted to know why they needed the same stuff I sent and to make sure that was all they needed. The guy I talked to was super nice and explained that the reason they request new copies is because the branch that does your initial taxes frequently isn't the branch that does the review. It would actually take them longer to request the records from the initial branch than it would to request them from you. So that's why they need the same stuff you sent to begin with. Hang in there. Call them up if you want a better picture of what's going on. Be prepared to be on hold for 30 minutes, but if you're cordial to them, I bet the person will be willing to walk you through whatever's going on. 

    how many times did they have you send the same documents in? And how long after filing did it take to get your credit?

    We got denied because we make too much money.  Apparently the rules changed in 2011.

    We are in a kind of weird circumstance. We got our return back soon after we completed, yet they are still sending us letters saying they are reviewing our filing and requesting more information. I keep sending it to them, but we aren't waiting on anything more as far as return monies.
